You should perform the following tasks in this assignment:

· Gather information on your organization.

· Identify four people in a variety of leadership positions throughout the organization.

· Develop a list of questions for the leaders that you have identified and submit the questions in questionnaire/interview format to your Faculty Mentor for review in advance of the interview.

· Interview as many of the leaders identified as possible.  Evidence of a minimum of two interviews must be included in the paper to receive full credit.

· Submit the completed interview sheets with responses to document the information and conclusions in the Organizational Profile.

· Prepare a two-page paper that profiles your organization and addresses the following questions, based on your research and interviews:

· What is the organizational structure? Is it primarily hierarchical, centralized, decentralized (see the glossary)? Provide an organizational chart (construct one, if necessary).

· How does the organizational structure reflect the organization's culture and values?

· What are the formal lines of communication within the company? How does the organizational structure aid or hamper communication?

· What informal lines of communication have developed? What role do these serve?

· Where does your work unit fit in the organizational structure? What contribution does your unit make to the organization's goals and objectives?

· What is the impact of the international workplace on your organization? Or, if your organization does not have an international presence, use the World Wide Web or other resources to find a similar organization in your career field that has an international presence and discuss the impact of the international workplace on that organization.

The paper should be at least two pages in length. There is no formal format for this paper. It is the student's responsibility to present the requested analysis in a format that both addresses the issues and is easy for the Faculty Mentor to understand. Any information obtained from a second source should be properly cited in APA format (see UMGC's Guide to Effective Writing).  As with any academic assignment, the content should be well organized and logically sequenced. The writing should be free of grammatical, mechanical, and spelling errors. The paper should be submitted in the LEO Assignments Folder.

Grading for the Organizational Profile will be based on:
