Organizational Vision and Influence
Creating influence in the workplace is entirely based on the corporate vision and measures that are put in place to implement it. The vision statement of an organization provides a picture that describes the direction or goal of the company, along with the means of accomplishing it. Organizational vision plays a significant role in encouraging people to work hard, influencing investors to partner with the firm for short-term and long-term investment goals, and striving to attain the desired goals by all means (Dayan, Heisig, & Matos, 2017). Vision is the mental image or future orientation that provides the direction or the goal of an organization and strategic plan to achieve the goals.
Most successful organizations have invested in creating a sustainable organizational vision that can have an impact or influence in the local, regional, and international business markets. To create a significant influence on the public or society, the corporate vision should align with the demands or the needs of the target clients. A clear marketing strategy for most organizations sells the vision and depicts how the achievement of the goals will impact society and target client base. I support my commander’s vision and try to influence every soldier in my section to support it also. I have posted the commanders intent and vision statement in my office to remind myself and the soldiers under me what they are. I include the commander’s mission statement into every exercise that my section plans and trains on.
The organizational vision should be flexible to address the ever-changing demands and needs in the workplace. A flexible vision is the one that the corporate leadership can rely on to transform the workplace culture and make new goals after a failure. The vision should not only address the existing issues in the unit but also the needs or demands that may emerge in the future to affect the effectiveness of the unit. All decisions in an organization should be made by consulting the key leaders that are crucial to the development and growth of the unit. When soldiers have concerted efforts to achieve a goal, there is a high possibility of accomplishing the vision and reaching higher levels of influence.
To sum up, vision is the mental image or future orientation that provides the direction or the goal of an organization and strategic plan to achieve the goals. Organizations are indebted to extend influence in the market or society through a shared vision in the workplace and having a clear, coherent, and flexible vision statement. The commander’s vision should set goals to achieve in their unit and commit himself to achieving them to have an impact on the soldiers.
