1. Provide a name of or link to a specific health care organization. Summarize the key products or services provided by the organization and identify the primary customers it serves.

Organization Overview

Universal Health Services, Inc is among the largest healthcare organization in America. Universal Health Service functions two hundred and twenty-six acute care facilities ambulatory surgical centers through its companies. UHS serves more than sixty-thousand people annually. In addition to its focus on acute care services, Universal Health Service also operates a behavioral health section that serves the civilian populace and America’s military community. The behavioral health section provides support service to one hundred and sixty military installations and Veterans Health Administration healthcare facilities across America and internationally. In 2016 alone, the Behavioral Health Division rendered its services to more than four thousand seven hundred veterans and their family members (Universal Health Service).

Organization Regulations, Accreditation, and Standards

HIPAA regulations impact the safeguards of UHS data and ensure that this information is not disclosed without the client’s consent. The healthcare data of students which are maintained by UHS is protected by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. HIPAA and FEPRA ensure that UHS maintains the safety of clients’ data and only makes disclosures when informed consent is provided. These regulations enable UHS to avoid lawsuits which are usually associated with excessive penalties. Universal Health service is accredited by AAAHC, which stands for Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare, Inc . These accreditations ensure that Universal Health Service delivers quality care and service and also ensures that UHS employs best practices that promote compliance on the part of UHS.

Effects on Risk Management

Risk management functions involve:

· Identification of risks.

· Assessment of them.

· Predicting their future severity.

· Mitigating risks.

· Recommending solutions, among others.

HIPAA regulations ensure that UHS mitigates the risk associated with data breaches by providing guidelines for sharing personal information, which entails getting client consent. Data breaches can result in the loss of data, including personal information, financial data, and health information. Intruders can use this information to steal funds and cyberbully the victims. The adverse effect of data is that it can lead to lawsuits that increase the involved entity's reputation risk (Symbol, 2018). The involved entities may also be penalized as a result of a data breach. As such, regulations and accreditation requirements ensure that UHS deliver functions effectively, thus minimizing the various risks associated with healthcare delivery.

Organizational Performance Management Systems

Universal Health Service can avert data breaches by implementing appropriate safeguard mechanisms. Such safeguards include encrypting sensitive PII employing access control within the firewall and on PCs containing sensitive data. Universal Health Service can also train its staff on detecting phishing activities. For instance, employees can be trained never to use their smartphone to access the organization's critical data and also discipline themselves to switch computers, especially during lunch break, to reduce the possible execution of lunch break attacks by hackers (Symbol, 2018). In regards to data disclosure, Universal Health Service must ensure that informed consent is obtained before disclosure.
