Organizational behavior entails three major concepts to be studied; one is the interface between the workforce and the organization which they are in. Secondly is the understanding the human behavior within an organizational setting and finally the study of the organization itself. Organization Behavior is, therefore, an important knowledge base that students should have if they are to be successful in their careers as workers or as managers (Vasu, Stewart, & Garson, 2017). An example, the Home Depot managers will be successful if they understand the behavior of each employee, understand the behavior of the organization, and finally, the interface between the organization characteristic and the behavior of employees. The figure 1.1 in shown in class includes the linkages of the human behavior and how the unique personality brought by individuals helps in the organizational setting. In a quest to understand its employees so well, Home depot keeps on asking the personal goals of its employees at all times so that they can monitor the behavior of the employees.

Employees and managers who have positive organizational behavior will generally be motivated and engaged, and as a result, there will be very high performance, and they will be in a position to improve the profit margins of the organization. JM Smucker grew from a very small enterprise to a multimillion organization courtesy of its good organizational behavior, which enhanced a good culture. The entire process of hiring and orienting staff in the company is systematic and thorough, and by the end of the hiring exercise, the new staff can understand the ethical standard that the organization has set (Smucker, 2014). It is because of the company culture, which makes JM Smucker one of the best places to work for in the world. The company believed in the golden rule that one should treat others the way they would wish to be treated. Professor Rawls offered a lot of extra credit to get her students pass the MGMT class. In terms of organizational behavior concepts, she motivated us as a leadership.

Organization behavior is something which cannot have a manager like the other organization functions like marketing, finance, and other titles. However, organizational behavior which all managers at all levels should have to ensure a smooth running of the organization. The four basic managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling can be done better with a positive OB. Organizing is the process of designing jobs and assigning them to people to do them (Miner, 2015). A good example is a group leader in a class project. For the project to be success, the group leader will allocate various roles to the group members. Once each task has been completed, the group members can report their findings and together put up a comprehensive report to the professor. Controlling is the last function, which also ensures that the people are well awarded in their work, and at the end of the day, the best gift will be given to the best person.

In management, managerial skills are of key importance when cascaded with organizational behavior. Technical skills will make the manager confident because he will be sending an employee to perform some work which he is familiar with. Technical and interpersonal skills help the manager to assign the job to the right person. However, OB has a bigger mandate in human resource management because the HRM deals with people, and understanding them will give the best results (Miner, 2015).
