Organisational Behaviour

There are two vignettes: 1) a vignette that has the 'good' manager counselling their employee; and 2) a vignette that has the 'bad' manager. Please take the time to analyse them carefully by considering: 1) where in the structure of the organisation does the individual work; 2) the affectivity within both vignettes; 3) the approach taken by the good and bad manager; 4) behavioural outcomes by the employee in both vignettes. As this individual's direct supervisor, you are required to resolve this problem with her absenteeism/presenteeism better than what the manager has in both vignettes.

Concerns of the case:

(e.g., supervisory behaviour, power relationship, job performance, etc.).

As a manager, does he have to prioritize the subordinate’s satisfaction at the cost the organizations interests to produce maximum efficiency? Can he pressure the subordinate into working efficiently? What is the right balance to successfully execute a manager’s role? What effects can these approaches have?

Question:

Determine appropriate Experience Cube techniques for addressing the above concerns.
