Title: Nine HR Competencies: Expertise
Let’s begin with the competencies that emphasize HRM expertise. HR Expertise affect organizational success by developing, maintaining and executing sound HRM policies, practices and procedures that support organizational mission and goals.
Critical Evaluation is about how HR can enhance the effectiveness and usefulness of human capital programs by informing their development and monitoring their success with appropriate data. Business Acumen is understanding how HRM practices can contribute to business functions and operations, as well as how internal and external factors impact organizational effectiveness.

Title: Nine HR Competencies: Relationships
Let’s take a look at the competencies that emphasize relationships. Communication is about effectively exchanging information with various groups of people in the organization. Organizational Leadership and Navigation involves creating initiatives and getting others to “buy-in” or support these ideas. HR professionals need to foster collaboration with others throughout the organization.
Relationship Management deals with interacting with company management, workers, and customers. HR professionals need to maintain relationships to achieve organizational success. Consultation involves providing guidance and coaching to employees and leaders. HR professionals often act as subject matter experts in people management.

Let’s continue with the 9 HR competencies by looking at ones that deal with ethics, cultural and global business environments. Ethical Practice emphasizes a core set of values for the company’s business practices. HR professionals should promote integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Global and Cultural Effectiveness stresses the ability of HR to manage a diverse group of employees. Diversity covers geographic and cultural differences.
