Are Perfect Families Truly in Existence?
For long, people have argued about the families as portrayed on the television screens. Majority of these families have their essential needs sorted primarily due to the financial capabilities of the breadwinners and are always happy. These families are seen to have significant resources, big houses, owning many vehicles and having proper jobs. However, in reality, finding such families is a problematic task and can be hence the argument that such perfect families do not exist in the community. It is evident from the discussions of people that money is the critical resource that assists to have complete families. Moreover, the same is visible in the story, A Perfect Family. However, peace within the family, love, and compassion are vital components as well. This assignment will argue on the fact that such families considered to be perfect do not exist. Therefore, the essay will provide relevant facts on reasons why the families do not live as opposed to the rights offered by media and other platforms.
Wealth, Peace, and Health does not make families Perfect
According to Colombo, Cullen, and Lisle, (2016), the majority of the people claim that the perfect families have three major elements which guide on how they are perfect in their lives. These features are wealth, peace, and health. Wealth is obtained by working hard and smart to achieve financial capabilities that meet, and, in the case of the perfect families, exceed the needs to be met. The source of wealth is the breadwinner in these houses (Fredrickson, 2013). Regarding peace, these families are portrayed to have peace only financially, whereby there is no interdependence in the families. Majority of the children have some form of work that they manage, and hence they do not worry about financial needs, and accordingly, there are not arguments in these lines. On the other hand, health-wise, these perfect families are deemed to have excellent health (Carbado, & Harris Cheryl 2013). This is because of the expensive doctors that they work with and how they accurately integrate their lives. These families are seen to utilize their wealth in the process of ensuring their health status is appropriate and that they are not affected by diseases. They undergo various tests for providing their health is sufficient.
However, such families cannot exist. Reasons behind this analogy are because there cannot be a balance between financial capabilities, health, and peace in that there are no arguments within the family, or business disrupts or health issues. Families that are normal and that exist face these challenges in the daily occasions. Based on the readings from Reading America, it is evident that there are family challenges which are faced and they are reflected financially and health-wise. In most cases, families may not be economically stable but will have some form of peace and healthy balance. Moreover, some health concerns such as a fever or a cold are not adverse, and may often jog someone. Apart from the less unwanted diseases, cases such as HIV/Aids and Cancer can be prevented, but once affected with them, it is impossible to cure them. As such, people just learn to live with them. Also, families who are financially stable experience some arguments within the houses. While proper utilization of resources is not of importance to the “Perfect Families,” it is essential that the same be highly appreciated while in the stable families since any financial expenses hinder their progress. As such, argument raising from proper usage of resources is imminent.
The Television Exaggerates the lifestyles of people
The television is a media platform that exaggerates the lifestyle of people. While critical prominent persons live a precious and high-class life, the majority live in the middle and lower-class levels. The television visualizes people to have perfect lifestyles; they have a lot of clothes, land, finances, vehicles, and are perfect in almost all aspects of life. For instance, it is seen that in most movies involving the class setup, the individual who is the key in the film has to have an A grade. Moreover, they seem to have families that are highly appreciative, supportive, caring and loving. While the same is true for very few families, it is not highly experienced by people in ordinary families. Despite the love and care, the majority of the families do not practice such activities for long. For instance, when the parents are stressed financially, they may show some love but will not be as happy and contented with their life as is displayed in the movies.
The life of people as shown in the television is highly not applicable in the ordinary life. The perfect families do not exist precisely because there is no day that an average family will not encounter a task, a challenge or a problem with which they have to focus on averting and providing solutions to the same. Moreover, these families must engage with activities on a daily basis to ensure they get the ends meal. In the television, most of the people shown do not go to work or have any form to support their lives. The lie behind this shows that people can just sit down and will not lack food, clothes, and shelter. Ordinary families have to go to work and make ends meet while ensuring to save enough for their overall financial needs.
