Social media is a technological invention that allow people to communicate on an internet platform.
A third of the world population is now using social media as a tool, this means that over 2.8 billion people are now actively using social media in their day to day lives.
These users range from businesses who are advertisement, government organization ,religious organization and individuals who are communicating from one end of the world to another.
SOCIAL MEDIA AS A SOLUTION
The traditional ways of communication involved the use of letters and phones. This meant that a person had to wait for a period more than one day to send and receive information via a letter.
Also it was hard to be able to pass information to a larger number of people at the same time without having to replicate the same message.
WHAT IT SOLVED
The problem was faced by individuals and organizations who wanted quicker access to information.
Marketing agencies needed a better way to be able to convey information about their products and services within a short amount of time.

LANGUAGE CHANGES
Too much shortening of words lead to poor communication traits.
Use of slangs a lingos lead to culture erosion and disappearance of the initial language.
Some social media users tend to use offensive and discriminatory language which lead to hatred.
