Becoming a Nurse Practitioner: Goals, Commitment, and Impact on Patients.

The nursing field plays a vital role in maintaining and keeping patients' health in good condition. The field is made up of interrelated specializations for example practitioner nurses and educator nurses. The distinguishing feature between a practitioner nurse and an educator nurse is that practitioner nurses acquire additional training and education. However, my greatest goal has been to become a practitioner nurse. The paper below clearly expounds more on my interest in the field, how I will utilize the knowledge from the program to impact positively patients' outcomes, how I plan to get a preceptor, and my commitment to the program alongside how I will organize my time to manage school demands.

Becoming a nurse practitioner has been one of my all-time greatest goals ever since I graduated from the AND program. Specifically, I am passionate about this field because nurse practitioners enjoy unlimited professional privileges. For instance, they can treat and prescribe appropriate medication to a patient suffering from a given ailment (Burton et al., 2023). They also are capable of providing comprehensive and patient-centered care to a wide range of patients and on realizing these privileges, my desire for the program increased day by day.

In addition, while at the AND program, I enjoy learning some course concepts such as pathophysiology, pharmacology, and drugs mechanism. Also, I love the patient experience and I am so much interested in knowing how some bodily systems function. Despite all this, after completing the program, I will still have an option for career advancement which may open doors my for knowledge and this has always accelerated my desire for the program.

Preceptors guide and mentor in-experienced practitioners in the field. Currently, I serve as a registered nurse at the United States Veterans affairs department and I have applied for a preceptor through the department hopefully, it gets approved. Alternatively, I have done some online research on how I can manage to hire a preceptor at a fair subscription. Luckily I have discovered some websites which offer such services and I may reach on to them in case the department fails to approve my preceptor application. Lastly, a brother of mine serves as an emergency room physician in another department and he can as well be a potential preceptor for my program.

Practitioners acquire a wide range of education through the program. I will use my education to voluntarily start patient education and promote healthy patient behaviours. For instance, some patients take longer periods to heal from their ailments and some even end up succumbing due to a lack of patient education. Also, patients end up ignoring some of the healthy patient behavioural practices such as doing exercises, adopting the right diet, and taking medicine regularly. Economic difficulties might hinder patients from acquiring the right patient education as well as practicing healthy diets (Sunny, Peck & Sonney, 2023). I will use my knowledge to create public awareness of the importance of observing such techniques. Moreover, I will ensure that the necessary patient health care is adhered to within my department by educating newer nurses on the importance of some key entities within the field.

Commitment and effective planning play a vital role in fostering academic, job, and work success. For instance, my timely job schedule, home duties, and family entanglements provide me with an amicable time to fully commit myself to the program and plan how to organize my time to manage school demands. For instance, my work has off plans after every 3 days of work and besides that, we only have 5 hours of work within 24 hours hence in each day. Therefore, after the 5 hours of work time, I will take a short rest and then get started for my school demands. Moreover, my children are fully grown and they together with my fiancé have promised to help me with some of my daily home duties hence I will have adequate time to commit myself to the program besides having a piece of my mind while attending school demands since I will have no worries on how I will get the house chores since I already have someone to help me in that.

In conclusion, in the paper above I have expounded more on my aspiration for a nurse practitioner. For instance, I have outlined several explanations of why I am interested in this field, how I plan to acquire a preceptor, and I plan how to use the knowledge to affect patient outcomes positively. Despite all this, I have also discussed my level of commitment to the program as well as how I have planned to organize my time to manage school demands. The nurse practitioner is an advantageous nursing professional field as one acquires more training and education as opposed to a nurse educator career choice hence an individual aspiring to become a nurse practitioner like myself, should always strategize to ensure that they pursue excellence in their endeavours.
