Running head: NEW BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE PLATFORM 1

NEW BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE PLATFORM 24

New Business Intelligence Platform

Name:

Institution:

Issue Description

There are different strategic organizational issues which influence the direction of businesses. These strategic issues also have significant leadership challenges and need a lot of planning, collaboration and corporation to implement. In the midst of several opportunities available for businesses and challenges which present roadblocks in equal measure, technology offers a great platform for organizational growth, expansion and development (Thamir & Poulis, 2015).

Therefore, for this strategic paper analysis, the focus is on a technological platform that can offer opportunities for growth and development for an organization. In this paper, a new business intelligence platform will be described and how it is likely to influence a wide range of strategic organizational aspects like leadership, change management, team work and operational processes. The business environment is constantly changing. Technology and data have changed how organizations make decisions, work on operational effectiveness and efficiencies and work towards achieving better productivity (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018).

Business intelligence, one of the technological innovations in the modern age, is a technology- driven application through which large datasets can be analyzed and presents actionable information that can be used by corporate end users, managers and executives to make evidence-based, insightful and informed organizational decisions (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018). Business organizations have been accumulating tons of data and mega datasets for decades. Data is useful in in driving insightful decision making processes, and helping in optimization of workflows, customer relationship management, production and delivery of products and marketing (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018).

High-end computing models has made data analytics and analysis more accessible, despite the fact that it has not always been an efficient and elegant affair. A considerable percentage of data-driven processes in the 1960s and 1970s had a lot of statistical analysis. On the turn of the 80s and 90s, data mining and discovery of knowledge was all the rage. Towards the end of the 20s and on the turn of the 2000s, a small number of business enterprises started crunching vast data amounts, and the widespread use of the term data science first started being felt (Richards, Yeoh, Chong & Popovič, 2017).

As the evolution of data science continue, we have been introduced to business analytics and business intelligence, simpler platforms which offer support in understanding large amounts of data and using analyzed data to make decisions. Chen, Chiang and Storey (2018) and Sharda, Delen and Turban (2016) implore that business intelligence covers a wide variety and range of tools, methodologies and applications that can enable business executives and employers collect data from their internal systems and external sources; prepare the data for expert analysis; develop and run questions against the analyzed data; create interactive dashboards and reports and visualizations for corporate-level decision making.

Simply defined, business intelligence allows business executives and technical experts to analyze data using different techniques to support decision making processes in the business. What is being referred to as business intelligence tools went through a lot of evolution from before, most of the time mainframe-based analytical processes and systems, like executive information platforms and decision support systems (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018). Sharda, Delen and Turban (2016) demonstrate, through its tools and techniques, that business intelligence is does not just look at abstract data that cannot be understood by the business.

The focus is to create simple interactive dashboards and reports which can offer a visualization for insightful decision making. Since the modern workplace and marketplace is competitive, business executives need tools and systems that can offer fast but accurate decisions which are informed by data and vital information (Minelli, Chambers & Dhiraj, 2012). Business intelligence systems and tools offer such a platform. For this project, we look at Lion net, a business intelligence platform that is used to improve human resource management and other functions that will be described in the paper. The Lion net business intelligence platform will transform how human resources are managed and the manner in which customer relationship management is fostered to promote organizational outcomes.

Analysis

Organizational and Leadership Effectiveness

For leaders, decision making is such an important role. Great leaders can described in terms of their ability to communicate and make sound decisions which steer an organization to greater heights of growth and development. For the leadership of the organization, business intelligence will revolutionize how decisions are made, speed with which the decisions are made and how effective these decisions are in dealing with different problems which affect business from different fronts (Thamir & Poulis, 2015). The new platform will certainly change the way organization will work, with data and analytics fuelling more developments in customer relationships and mobile applications.

For most managers and leaders across different spectra, business intelligence platform should be used as a savvy leader’s guide. The focus is helping their organizations deliver better business productivity and performance through leverage of critical information from their value chains (Schulz, Winter & Choi, 2015). The new platform offers the leadership of the organization, especially on human resource management and customer relationship management, the ability to collect and efficiently analyze tons of internal and external business data, and dictate how this data can be used in generating knowledge and deriving value.

At its optimal, Lion net, the new business platform, will empower leaders across the organization to make decisions with deep real-time insight into the company’s customers, finances, human resource and other significant business measures; enabling better decision making at all organizational levels (Schulz, Winter & Choi, 2015). For leaders, navigating the waters of multi-human and vendor systems is challenging. The amount of data often encountered makes it sometimes difficult to know which direction should be taken.

The Lion net business intelligence platform will be critical in helping the organization create a solid and reliable foundation from which business decisions will be made, help leaders gain better insight into the business enterprise and optimize performance management across different departments (Davenport, 2012). Working together with managers from different functional departments, the new platform will be essential in helping define and create the critical mapping of significant performance indicators that are aligned with the business goals and objectives.

As a prerequisite, the business analytics and intelligence team firstly focuses on collecting both internal and external data for the organization, then a data warehouse is created onto which the data is stored in usable formats (Schulz, Winter & Choi, 2015). Once this has been achieved, then the team can start measuring, analyzing and using the data and information proactively and generating vital analytics. The business executive team is then provided with factual and real time data from which they can make significant decisions which affect the operational performance of the organization, reinforce strategic imperatives and boost the organization’s investment portfolio.

From the process of planning, measuring and managing performance, reporting, analysis and queries, and management of enterprise information, the leaders in collaboration with the business intelligence team can design, build and maintain a seamless system based on technology and other computing infrastructure (Schulz, Winter & Choi, 2015).

Ethical issues associated with the business intelligence platform

Business intelligence, being a technological platform heavy on data, there are ethical issues associated with its implementation. It is important for corporate leaders embracing the new platform to understand the ethical and moral implications associated with its adoption and subsequent implementation (Davenport, 2012). In the business intelligence platform proposed, the focus of ethical concern should be security, privacy and integrity of internal and external business data. There has been increased hope by some leaders and technology enthusiasts that business intelligence would be a great platform for detecting fraud and negligence.

Of course, this is on the presumption that the business analytical and intelligence processes that are employed operate within specified ethical frameworks. As a business intelligence platform, the use of internal and external data can breach different moral and ethical standards. Since the organization is implementing a business intelligence platform for human resource management, data concerning internal operations and behavior of their employees can be collected for analysis (Minelli, Chambers & Dhiraj, 2012). Tons of mega data about the behavior and transactions of customers can also be collected, analyzed and used for driving significant business decisions.

There are five principles that will be guiding the use of the new business intelligence platform to ensure that ethical guidelines are obeyed and implemented successfully. Firstly, the use of any consumer or employee data in the business intelligence platform must have a benefit (Minelli, Chambers & Dhiraj, 2012). The ethical use of data demands that there is a tangible benefit that would be derived from the whole process. Ideally, using the platform must demonstrate a level of benefit, for all the parties concerned.

With this respect, the individuals who generate the data and the people who use the data for decision making must demonstrate a certain level of benefit. Secondly, the data use for the platform must be progressive. For instance, if the anticipated changes or transformations are achievable in a less data-intensive framework, then more less-intensive processing should be employed (Minelli, Chambers & Dhiraj, 2012). The ethical value of progressiveness relies on the minimal use of data and the expectation of continuous innovation and improvement.

The expectation of continuous innovation and improvement demands that what is learnt by the organizations from the application of business intelligence and related data should help in delivering better and more valuable outcomes (Minelli, Chambers & Dhiraj, 2012). Thirdly, big data analytics and the business intelligence platform must demonstrate a certain level of sustainability. Lastly, respect and fairness are important ethical principles that will be guiding how the business intelligence and associated data will be used in driving vital business decisions.

Organizational Dynamics and Systems

With the implementation of Lion net, a new business intelligence solution for managing human resources and relationship between the organization and the customers, different organizational dynamics and systems are likely to come be experienced. Systems thinking, mental models, personal mastery, shared vision and team learning will play a significant role in promoting the success of the new platform. As such, we shall have a new platform which does not only promote business growth but affect different dynamics of the organization. From the overall framework, the system will impact human resource, the structure of the organization, culture of the organization and the political leadership of the organization.

Two research studies, one by Richards, Yeoh, Chong and Popovič (2017); and another one by Laursen and Thorlund (2016) describe how business intelligence can be used to improve corporate performance management beyond simply reporting numbers. These two research studies document how managers and business executives can use business intelligence tools to improve decision making and for corporate management success. The platform suggested for this paper, Lion net, is one tool that can impact decision making for management and improvement of human resources.

Laursen and Thorlund (2016) explain that business today live in the age of information and information can be very powerful. The sad fat however is, business executives and corporate managers are most times buried under tonnes of information. Making sense of such massive information is extremely difficult without the use of special tools and techniques. For most small-scale businesses, the adoption of business intelligence has been rather slow because of lack of adequate knowledge on what the platform is capable of achieving. The truth however is, business intelligence should be a critical and integral part of any organizational operation.

Boosting productivity, as elaborated by Richards, Yeoh, Chong and Popovič (2017), is important for any business. Data collection and gathering using the old techniques and methods, analyzing the data and writing detailed reports can be very challenging, time consuming and cumbersome. In some cases, having enough staff to put in extra hours for such analysis can pose challenges (Minelli, Chambers & Dhiraj, 2012). However, using business intelligence tools and applications, a business executive can pull tonnes of data and create reports by simply clicking on a button.

As such, time and vital resources are freed up, allowing the staff to be more productive on other roles. Schulz, Winter and Choi (2015) stress on the need to gain sales and insightful market intelligence in the modern competitive marketplace. The authors argue that, whether someone is a sales person or for a sales and marketing department, keeping track of the customers using a platform like customer relationship management can be of significant help (Laursen & Thorlund, 2016). Having a CRM solution is helpful in collecting data about the customers and making sense of the data, presents the data in easily understood tables and charts that can then be used to make important decisions going forward.

Information retrieved from such solution can help make decisions on the entire sales period, the number of new customers, and how existing customers can be serviced and tracked (Laursen & Thorlund, 2016). Further, the business intelligence platform can help understand consumer behavior. One of the major strengths of using business intelligence is that business executives are capable of boosting their abilities to analyze the current buying trends as demonstrated by customers. Once the business executive understand what the customers are buying, he or she can use the data and information to develop products that match the current market consumption trends.

As such, correct products reach the customers and the company increases its profitability. Laursen and Thorlund (2016) remark that return on investment is a long term target for using business intelligence tools and platforms in different organizational processes. Having an efficiently running business intelligence system in an organization improves strategic awareness, increases the speed and accuracy of reporting, and decreases operational costs and hence the return on investment is positively influenced. Most business leaders always want to gain better visibility of different projects and processes in the organization (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018).

For such leaders, business intelligence improves their visibility of these projects and processes and help them identify issues or areas that needs to be improved. How can abstract data be transformed into actionable information? Business intelligence systems, as analytical tools, can give business executives the insight needed to make successful and significant strategic plans for the organizations (Laursen & Thorlund, 2016). Why? Because business intelligence systems are capable of identifying key trends and patterns in the organization’s data and consequently make it easier for business leaders to make vital links between different business areas that may otherwise seem unconnected or unrelated.

Developing efficient systems is important to achieve the levels of productivity and performance required especially at top levels (Richards, Yeoh, Chong & Popovič, 2017). Today, there are countless organizations that are throwing away important time looking for information from within their varied sources of data when a need to gain a deeper and insightful understanding of the business is important.

Looking for data from multiple sources can he highly challenging. With an efficient and effective business intelligence system well in place, all the required data comes from a single source and can be accessed from one interactive dashboard which then creates a single report (Richards, Yeoh, Chong & Popovič, 2017). This strategy saves much energy and time whole eliminating inefficiencies from the systems and processes.

Impact of team effectiveness on the new platform

Effective adoption and implementation of the new platform requires effective team performance. Different players drawn from various organizational departments must put their heads together to pull the project through. Just like project management, the members of the team must put in 100 percent of their effort towards ensuring that the new platform is not only implemented but also sustained for long-term results (Mathieu & Gilson, 2012). Team effectiveness is significant for the implementation of the program because: effective teams share the workload, effective teams constantly communicate with one another, effective teams focus on the most significant issues, effective teams are accountable and responsible and effective teams and energy is not wasted by effective teams.

The ability to share the workload ensures that it is completed within the required timelines (Mathieu & Gilson, 2012). To ensure that the Lion net is adopted, implemented and sustained for future growth of business processes in the organization, capacity must be tracked and the members of the team must be willing to share the workload. For instance, if the IT department is overwhelmed by installing the new system, additional staff drawn from other technical areas can be brought in to assist in the process (Mathieu & Gilson, 2012). Constant communication, a feature of effective teams is important in ensuring that knowledge is shared and that all parts of the organization are on the same page with regards to how the program is implemented.

Thirdly, effective teams focus on prioritizing work. The most important stuff are brought forward, with other tasks which are less important handled later. For the organization, prioritization is important because the leadership of the organization can determine the amount of time is being spent to ensure that Lion net is successfully implemented. Effective teams show a great level of accountability and responsibility not only for the project but also for their team members (Mathieu & Gilson, 2012). Accountability and responsibility is important because it shapes the success of the new project. Lastly, effective teams focus on the process and ensure that energy is not wasted on unimportant things.

Change Management Model

Lewin’s change management model is suitable for implementation of Lion net, the new business intelligence platform. This change management model divides the change process into three significant steps: unfreeze, make the change and refreeze (Cummings, S., Bridgman, & Brown, 2016). The first phase is unfreezing the current processes and perceptions and evaluate how things are being done. This implies that every step of business processes, including management of human resource and customer relationship are evaluated for a potential improvement. Unfreezing as a phase helps in reducing change resistance and convincing the employees of the need to embrace the change.

Everyone in the team must understand why the change is necessary, possible benefits that the new system will create and how it will be implemented. The second phase is making the change; this is where the selected team of IT experts and other functional experts implement the Lion net; business intelligence platform (Cummings, S., Bridgman, & Brown, 2016). The implementation comes once everyone in the firm has been adequately prepared and they have been guided how they will adapt to the new business intelligence solution.

In this phase, education, support and constant communication is key in ensuring that the staff and the organization does not face massive challenges as they transition to the new system of human resource management and customer relationship management (Cummings, S., Bridgman, & Brown, 2016). The third phase is refreezing the new status quo. Once Lion net and related changes have been deployed, measured and tweaked according to the collected feedback. Here, old habits are completely killed to avoid them resurfacing.

Integrated Leadership Analysis

Different contemporary leadership approaches can be used to ensure that the new business intelligence platform is effectively and successfully adopted. Transformational leadership approach will be essential for this project. Transformational leadership takes an innovative and change approach towards promoting positive performance in the workplace. Chen, Chiang and Storey (2018) explain that change and growth are inevitable in the IT industry, but transformational leadership approach can motivate and inspire employees to embrace chance through fostering an organizational culture of ownership, accountability and workplace autonomy (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013).

What is the basis of the transformational leadership approach? In transformational leadership, employees are inspired, motivated and motivated to create and innovate change that will support the growth and shape the future success of the organization. Adoption and implementation of the new Lion net business intelligence platform for management of human resource and customer relationship management is one such change for innovation (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). As technology grows and changes, the new platform will help the business adapt to the transformations in the business world and promote organizational performance through improved efficiency and effectiveness in handling issues concerning employees and customers.

The focus is promoting the efficiency of the output process. The culture of innovation and constant creation of change is accomplished when leaders set an example at the very top level through a string sense of independence in the workplace, stable corporate culture and promoting employee ownership (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). For transformational leaders, the focus is inspiring and motivating the workplace using effective management strategies, which some people can consider micromanagement. As a progressive workplace, employees are trusted by transformational leaders to assume authority over critical decisions in their assigned roles and responsibilities in the organization.

From the perspective of management styles, this leadership approach gives the staff a conducive and expansive room for innovation and creativity, to look at what would happen in the next decade and develop solutions that would solve tomorrow’s problems (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). As a tool for growth, transformational leadership does not look at the past. The focus is what the future holds, the challenges we are likely to face in the future and how these challenges can be addressed through innovative solutions developed across the board. As such, transformational leaders promote knowledge sharing and team work to yield positive results for the organization. As Chen, Chiang and Storey (2018) reiterate, employees on this leadership track are likely to be prepared to become transformational through training, coaching and sound mentoring.

So which features of transformational leadership would be important for implementation of Lion net and ensuring that its applications are sustained for optimal success going forward? Firstly, the leadership of the organization must constantly develop their employees positively and motivate (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). Most people misunderstand the concept of motivation to imply pumping more money into the compensation and benefits kitty. That it is all about adding more money to the current pay checks. It is absolutely not. Motivation of employees takes different forms. As simple congratulatory and thank you note to the sales team for posting a high volume of sales and revenue could be a tool for motivating the staff.

Most employees want to feel part of the process. They want to be appreciated and recognized for their roles in the organization. To implement this new platform, the leadership at the organization must embrace the concept of motivation because it gives the employees the urge and push to go for more (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). Secondly, transformational leaders foster an ethical and moral environment where there are clear values, standards, principles and priorities which guide different work processes (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). As mentioned earlier, ethics is an important concept in business and especially when dealing with consumer and employee data.

The manner in which the data is handled by the business intelligence solution determines whether the required results would be obtained from it. There are ethical principles and guidelines that employees who use Lion net to make decisions in the organization must follow (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). Data must be treated with respect, confidentiality and a great deal of privacy, especially when dealing with sensitive data like consumers’ personal details. While a culture of innovation and creativity is created by transformational leaders in the workplace, team work is essential.

For the organization, there is a needs to encourage the staff to shift away from an attitude of self-interest to the mindset of team work and working towards a common goal. In so doing, the leadership must emphasize on the need for open communication, cooperation and authenticity (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). The reason for implementing the Lion net solution is to offer authenticity towards management of human resources and customer relationships. Lastly, transformational leaders must provide a lot of mentorship and training while at the same time allowing the staff to make independent decisions and take ownership of their roles or responsibilities.

Authentic leadership will also be significant for the process. Authentic leaders are considered genuine and real. Communication will be very important in ensuring that the newly introduced model is accepted, and authentic leadership comes with this advantage (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). For employees and the business executives in the organization, communication is very significant in building relationships, for fostering the culture of innovation since knowledge sharing is enhanced, and for promoting team work (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). Leaders at the organization can also promote a culture of self-discipline which is very synonymous with authentic and transformational leadership. Self-disciplined and consistent leaders are capable of remaining consistent, calm and cool during stressful situations (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). For instance, implementing a new project or change can come with a lot of situations, stress, and confusion which often make leaders lose their cool.

Recommendations: The New Business Intelligence Platform: Lion net

The proposed business intelligence platform incorporated for the organization is called Lion net. The major focus of the Lion net business intelligence platform is improving the human resources department. In this section, the paper describes how the business intelligence platform will be used to improve management of human resources. As mentioned before, business intelligence combines people skills, business processes, applications and technologies to make better tactical and strategic business decisions.

The applications and technologies encompass data management methods for collecting, planning, storing and structuring vital data into data warehouses and analytical roles for reporting and creating visual dashboards. Apart from human resource functions that Lion net adoption and implementation would be significant for, it has other capabilities like the ability to submit rewards, personnel actions like requesting for schools and promotions.

Lion net Platform for Hiring and Tracking Data

The same indicators that are using in measuring the performance of the business or the buying patterns can also be used in measuring the fitness of employees to a specified role. Most HR personnel have a specified set of qualities or attributes they are looking for in prospective employee candidates (Dias & Sousa, 2015). And then the interviewers provide the platforms that HR personnel can use to collect data. Some of the important qualities can be in the form of knowledge on products, average time spent on social media, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, attitude and other qualities (Dias & Sousa, 2015).

Decision on recruiting the best candidate largely depends on how human resource managers perceive the data analysis. As a business intelligence platform, Lion net can be smartly implemented to provide detailed and analytical information which help human resource personnel make well informed evidence-based decision making (Dias & Sousa, 2015). For instance, the time of a job candid ate spent on Facebook and other platforms for social media could either be categorized into weakness or strength depending on what role the candidate is being considered for.

Being a solid and effective business intelligence platform, Lion net helps analyze the important attributes, conduct comparisons on different candidates on all the listed qualities and give the most suitable fit for the role (Dias & Sousa, 2015). The least fit maybe identified easily, but it takes a little more work to identify the most qualified fit. For most HR managers, the challenge comes in from how the right individual should be chosen at the right cost for the right roles because the most of the candidates will be appearing somewhere between the middle and high range of a bar graph for instance (Dias & Sousa, 2015). This is where the business intelligence platform discussed here come in to make the most qualified candidate through well informed decision making.

Lion net platform and retention of current staff

Lion net is one of the best and clever business intelligence platforms in the market today. If well adopted and implemented, the tool is capable of learning about the business and its staff over time and presents the human resource department with possible predictions which will affect how decisions are made in the future. Dias and Sousa (2015) explains that there is often a complex chain and web of information that goes into the management of a strong and healthy human resource department in any business.

The complex chain of information includes recruitment and selection process, the salaries, performance management appraisals, key performance indicators, promotions, relocations, retentions, firing of staff, the estimated cost of living and many others. Being a clever business intelligence platform, Lion net helps analyze all these information on a continuous and ongoing basis, determine the levels of employee satisfaction and potentially predict how long some members of the staff will serve within the business.

Conducting an analysis of performance management and appraisals and employee key performance indicators can show the skill to role fit for individual employees and determine the most productive staff. For the HR department, this platform allows corrective measures to be taken at the right time and hence valuable time and costs are saved for the organization. Dias and Sousa (2015) reiterate that businesses often perform at the highest level when all the staff own their respective roles and work in well-oiled and functional teams, with each team depending on the other.

A good illustration example would be an orchestra. For a group of musicians in an orchestra arrangement to produce an incredible show of music, all the various individual musical artists must know the whole piece and play their respective roles, just in time. If the whole piece is ignored by a single musician, the entire performance can be potentially ruined. In the same way, a business runs and functions best when all the staff are made aware of the big picture on a continuous basis irrespective of their individual responsibilities (Dias & Sousa, 2015).

As such, employees should be allowed to access a generic performance dashboard with respect to their business progress or even at the level of departmental progress in the face of strategic objectives, revenue goals and organizational policies can be highly motivational (Dias & Sousa, 2015). The non-management employees, with this approach, would feel as part of the business strategic decision making teams and gain a lot of respect for the organization.

Lion net platform and compensation analysis, finance actions

Dias and Sousa (2015) and Sharda, Delen and Turban (2016) explain that when it comes to finance actions and compensation analysis for personnel, most business executives often rely on very simple and basic information like a certain industry average. In some instances, the level of employee commitment and skills during a performance management can be used in making such vital decisions (Sharda, Delen, D & Turban, 2016). In rare cases do most managers rely on more advanced and insightful data analytics that allow visualization of the impact of these personnel finance and compensation choices?

This is where Lion net, the robust, clever and insightful business intelligence tool comes in with a lot of significance. The platform delivers greater insight of potential impact to the finance officers and the HR management team. Further, evaluation of team performance versus the rewards could potentially keep the business from losing its most talented staff to the market competition (Sharda, Delen, D & Turban, 2016). If smartly adopted and implemented, the Lion net business intelligence platform allows the managers to foresee several “what if” scenarios through tracking past and future data (Sharda, Delen, D & Turban, 2016).

What does this mean for human resource department teams? Since it tracks data that informs decision making from a financial front, the Lion net platform allows the human resource lead to propose compensation or benefit ranges and see the impact on business from a financial viewpoint when compared to predicted or forecasted future revenue. This is close to perfect! The human resource manager does not just make finance actions or salary increment decisions based on scanty and basic data from the industry (Sharda, Delen, D & Turban, 2016).

Together with the business intelligence team, reliable and accurate data is used to determine what impact a salary rise would mean for the company at the present time and in future. Also, the compensation review is not done in isolation. The revision is combined with an analytics of the performance evaluations and key performance indicators. Through this platform, the human resource manager makes well-informed and insightful decisions on who should be rewarded and in the process the top talents are retained in the company (Richards, Yeoh, Chong & Popovič, 2017).

Therefore, the Lion net serves two functions; it helps determine compensation revision based on performance reviews while also looking at the financial impact of those reviews at the present moment and forecasted future revenue.

Lion net platform and knowledge management

Knowledge management is the collection of systems and processes that govern how knowledge is created, disseminated and utilized. Knowledge management is not mostly on technology, but more on understanding ways in which people work, brainstorm, and identify people groups working together and how information can be shared to improve decision making and leadership of the organization (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018). As business intelligence platform, Lion net is important for knowledge management and sharing.

From a literal perspective, knowledge management has been struggling in most organizations because these firms most times try to implement massive enterprise-wide knowledge management processes and failed, and also because of the cumbersome nature involved in bringing together the several technologies and components associated with it (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018). The viability of knowledge management is largely because of the Lion net business intelligence platform.

How does the platform support knowledge management as an important component of human resource management? In most cases information retrieved from the platform is embedded in organizational portal web pages, spreadsheets, documents, important emails and presentations in managed data repositories (Sharda, Delen & Turban, 2016). When employees and other stakeholders receive vital information from the business intelligence platform, they are capable of using their knowledge or expertise in making decisions and taking significant actions.

The process of making decisions and taking actions may involve interaction between employees. Such interactions are supported by processing information and collaborative applications. When employees and executives make significant decisions and take bold actions they make use of their business acumen and knowledge in tying the actionable information to the organizational systems and processes they are responsible within the organizational role framework (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018). The ability of employees to relate vital information to business activities and processes is of great significance.

Based on business intelligence and the knowledge management integration, employees are capable of relating actionable information to business systems and processes that provide support for different functions across different departments other than the human resource department. However, for the Lion net platform to fully support the knowledge management environment or process, it must be effectively integrated with business process management, content management systems and business planning software (Chen, Chiang & Storey, 2018). As a business intelligence platform, Lion net offers online analytical processing, data mining and data warehousing functions that support how knowledge is acquire and shared across different departments.
