My Childhood Experience
In my childhood experience between the ages of seven and eleven my life was miserable because none of the people I was with understood me at all. The school I used to go to was far worse than everywhere else I could be. My teachers made my life difficult in school and the other children never found any pleasure being with me. This was the difficult times in my childhood that I will always put in mind.
This paper gives a history of my troubled childhood experience and how I was liberated from those experiences. It shows how children can be isolated because of their learning disabilities and what it needs to avoid that.
I was a slow learner in school and I had poor social skills, so one could imagine how miserable that life could be. The teacher used to ask me questions and if I fail to answer she could make fun of me together with other children, this was the moments I failed to understand where I went wrong that I was not like any other children. My father did not make the going any smoother either.
My father was ashamed of me, compared to my other older siblings who were organized and always focused in class my father never found the pleasure of calling me his child, he could always identify me with my mother. I can vividly remember my mother's compassionate look; she always submissively took the blame. Though my father used to always raise his voice towards mother whenever I did a mistake which was very normal, it didn't mean that he did not like me, it is only that he found it hard to understand me.
He always made the effort to understand me, but in a wrong way off Course, to him, I wasn't damn I was just stubborn and the stubbornness will be dealt with by proper discipline. This was the wrong perception my dad had of me for sure. I sometimes find it hard to remember and call him dad for what he made me pass through, with his usual statement of preparing for my future.
I never did my homework on my own, thanks for my brother who always loved and cared for me for always making sure he has helped me with my homework, but the teacher always knew that this wasn't my work and she called my mother to school to complain my performance in assignments and class works. "What is her problem won't she leave me alone for once mother?" I could shout at my mother with tears on my eyes. My mother will always hold me in her hands hug me and with tears in her eyes she could always express her feelings for me and encourage me. What could have I done without your mother?
This life was too hard on me, at that early age I had experienced enough ridicule from my father, teacher and other children. I had no friends except for one who always had the guts to endure my stupidity and nonsense. I also had a feeling to live happily to pass exams like any other child in school. To play not with toys but really children in a group, but I never thought that could ever be and except my mother and brother I had none who could totally understand me.
I remember when I woke up early in the morning than usual and just wanted to run away from my father, from my teachers and those idiots who always made fun of me. I left the house early than usual and I went roaming, not knowing where to go exactly but just to be away from this people. I went to my mother and asked her to take her to my grandmother from her side, she could not accept that but I remember I cried the whole day in school till she gave in.
Here is where I experienced life, this is where I found people who actually were ready to help me, and they made me the person I am today. My grandmother never saw the problem I had she was just happy that I had cried to be with her. I joined a school that was near to my grandmother's place where I encountered a God sent teacher and friend who understood and offered to help me at all costs. Though I was afraid to stay with other children he identified my strengths he showed me how special I was I for sure I was.
He used to call me during free time and stay with me sharing his childhood stories with me, playing with me and even inviting me to his house. He invented new ways to teach me since I was slower than the other children and I eventually started competing with other children. I started to love and appreciate myself and I was appreciated and loved by others. That is the time I fitted into the society and for sure I have reached where no one could have thought I could have reached.
Through my experience I have learned that every child is special, every child has his/her own potentials that need to be motivated. The environment that the child is brought up plays an important role in a child's wellbeing. Children need not to isolated and insulted for their weaknesses but to be loved and be encouraged. To identify their problems and always appreciate them. If it were not for the appreciation from my grandparents and the teacher I could not be where I am today.
