Printing press machines have become more flexible and integrated where most of the functions that were conducted manually are being deployed in a separate module. Such situations lead to complex multi-axis ideas with multiple operations. Due to the limited implementation time, a standardized procedure for control of its modules is required for its functionality. When all the deliverables and requirements for the Printing press machine installation is well described, the procedure of breaking down the project work starts.

The WBS describes the scope of the project by breaking the work down into parts that are planned, cost projected, effortlessly supervised and managed. The main aim of the WBS is to segment a complex task into simple tasks that are easily managed. The breaking down of the project work gets lower to the point where it easy to estimate the duration and cost of completing the project. It is a good practice to make the estimation at a higher factor. As the level of WBS descends it provides more details of the project tasks. It is crucial to note that the sequence of the work to be done as well as the existing dependencies are considered when developing the project schedule. For instance, Calibrating the Press would be conducted after Installing the Plates. The key idea of developing a WBS is to get all of the project tasks, regardless of their order.

Establish the total electrical load of the printing machine being installed. Establish if the existing electrical supply for the building is adequate and can sustain any additional loads by utilizing the Total Demand as well as the New Load computations. By doing so, this determines if there is a need for creating more power supply.

Press Setup -All printing plates should be installed, and all cylinders, fountains, and rollers cleaned and tested to confirm that the incoming parent sheet on the press machine gets a suitable setup. Normally, the press machine incorporates washing programs for emptying the impression, plate, and blanket cylinders. This step is important to avoid clogging of the machine by dirt.

Installing the Plates-Usually, four plates are placed onto cylinders within the press where any time a parent sheet requires to be printed, new plates should be mounted. The project leader should be aware of the fact that the cost and duration involved in the installations of such items make the printing impractical for little jobs (Bhaskar, 2013).

Calibrating the Press-During the installation the machine operator adjusts the press accordingly utilizing a calibration software. The software sets the machines performance and the kind of ink as well as the paper. The cost estimate for the project is about $1000 including the labor involved.

The primary measures used so as to successfully implement the project involves setting and managing accurate expectations where the procedure of reviewing the project requests and implementation are demanding. The project leader should be considerate when setting the project scope, cost and schedule since issues related to the project are unavoidable (scope creep). The team leader should establish common goals among the project team, maintain management commitment, conduct project activity resource estimation as well as identify roles and duties for the project (Frederick, 2010).
