Option 1:  How has something you have learned in this course affected your life.  Have you found a new genre of music you like?  Have you been able to share a parent or grandparent’s interest in jazz?  Etc.  Be specific and use specific examples.  This essay does not require any sources or citations.  However, if you DO quote a source, be sure that you cite it!  This essay should be approximately 1.5 to 2 pages long, double spaced.  You can earn up to 15 points on this essay.

 

Option 2:  How did early jazz effect and influence a modern musician or genre?  Choose a 21st century NON-jazz musician or genre (ie: hip hop, rap, country, etc.) and describe how he/she/it was influenced by a jazz artist or jazz genre from the 20th century.  This essay should be approximately 1.5 to 2 pages long, double spaced.  You can earn up to 20 points on this essay.
