Metric Definitions
Process performance metrics enables the process to work more efficiently and less costly hence affordable.
The performance metrics employed in the process includes;
3
On this slide we are providing metrics definitions as a quantifiable way to track and assess the status of a specific “The Perfect Toast” process.
3
Run time
Time it takes to make a batch of toasts. It is given as;
Run time = time to make unit toast * number of toast made
Operation time Combination of start-up time and the run time
Operation time = start up time + run time
Flow time Mean time that the one toast takes to be processed fully
Throughout rate
The output rate of production

The Perfect Toast - Summary of the Process
Process flowcharting is important for making The Perfect Toast. Each step must be well defined and completed effectively.
The entire process of making toast is done a simple but well defined way.
The materials once presented is baked and ready to cook.
The as-is process follows the basic steps that should be carried out while making the toast till it is ready to be used.
Placing the toaster is a stable surface before plugging it to the power point ensures that it is well cooked and in a good shape.
A decision is required before switching on the toaster to ensure all the step have been followed and taken as required.

The Perfect Toast - Summary of the Process
The improved process ensure that the resources used are accounted for the final product, i.e. and nothing is misused.
The run time enables the process to make the required number of toast.
Since there is a pre-defined number of output, the process can be evaluated and improved if necessary to make more using the same resources hence maximum profits and increasing output at the same time.
Following the process keenly and taking note of the time required to complete a process dictates the expected expenses and management of the workforce to ensure that it is within the company plans.
The improved process generally reduces the wastage of resources and make the process more efficient.

The Perfect Toast - Summary of the Process
The as-is process is redundant and has know cost reduction nor product improvement mechanisms. It can not be therefore evaluated and tested for efficiency and quality.
The improved process gives the expected time taken to make a batch or a single toast(s) and thus can be evaluated and its production tested for quality.
It is thus more effective and well managed process.
Improvement can be increased as well as quality since it has a well-established and laid down constraints.

Conclusion
In summary, A flowcharts are a pictorial or graphical representation of a process. Flowcharts are used in many industries including homes. A process flowchart shows in pictorial form how a process is performed from start to finish, usually in sequential step order
Process flowcharts are valuable as a method of improvement. Process flowcharts provides details description of Breakfast toast production practices on any household. This can be analyzed to identify and correct deficiencies and implement improvement on the process of making The Perfect Toast.
