Solve the following question to calculate the efficiency of the organization by solving problems that are relation to operations management decisions. (10 MARKS)

1. An appliances company wants to establish an assembly line to manufacture its new product, The Micro Popcorn Popper. The goal is to produce 5 poppers per hour. The tasks, task times, and immediate predecessors for producing one Micro Popcorn Popper are as follows:

(Write the formulae and use two places after the decimal point) (5 marks)

a. Draw a precedence diagram of this operation. (1 marks)

b. What is the cycle time for this operations? (0.75 marks)

c. What is the theoretical minimum number of workstations? (0.75 mark)

d. Balance the line by assigning tasks to the workstations. (Hint: one more workstation can be consider to balance the line). (0.75 marks)

e. Based on the balancing of tasks to the workstations, what is the efficiency and idle time? (1.75 marks)
