RATIONALE:

The first paragraph of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC)’s Sum Report reads: “For over a century, the central goals of Canada’s Aboriginal policy were t Aboriginal governments; ignore Aboriginal rights; terminate the Treaties; and, through a assimilation, cause Aboriginal peoples to cease to exist as distinct legal, social, cultural, racial entities in Canada. The establishment and operation of residential schools were a this policy, which can best be described as “cultural genocide”.” One of the first steps towards reconciliation is to hear and learn about the experiences o people in Canada and to recognize past injustices.
