Learn 3 Things in 10 Seconds
Participant talks for 10seconds on their object
Team members be attentive!
Collectively, team members share at least 3 things they noticed
Then team makes an investigative assumption, which participant can confirm or correct.
OBJECTIVE:
practice paying attention
move away from assumptions, and towards investigations
Activity avenues:
Listening to listen not to respond, notice AS MANY things in 10 seconds
Notice and assume: Our brain is constantly trying to organize, categorize and make sense of the world around us. Fitting every piece into its puzzle of understanding and worldview. Therefore let’s use or investigate assumptions to check our understanding? Eg) Notice plants in background. Do you love gardening?

What can I learn from this time?
What am I doing that is having a positive impact on my team?
RIPPLE EFFECT: the continuing and spreading results of an event or action.
Leadership is having an impact or being a catalyst.
Both action & inaction have an impact.
Sometimes we don’t notice the effect of our actions (or lack of action) as the impact not close or immediate. Just as the ripple maybe far from initial contact.
The wave continues even after the stone has touched bottom.
Wave interference is the phenomenon that occurs when two waves meet while traveling along the same medium. The interference of waves causes the medium to take on a shape that results from the net effect of the two individual waves upon the particles of the medium. https://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/waves/Lesson-3/Interference-of-Waves

RIPPLE EFFECT: the continuing and spreading results of an event or action.
Leadership is the point of interference- when our ripple effect intersects another’s. What might you do differently if you could see every ripple of your actions? How might that change you this week?

Valuable opportunity
Lengthy team debrief=
Peers: What they value in a leader, from those you may one day lead. At which point… the feedback will be filtered since the power relationship has changed.
- honest, unfiltered, unguarded, less experienced which is how we all start
see this next 15min as a treasure chest. When we open a treasure chest, we are looking for gold. You are about to receive gold, unfiltered, unguarded, uncensored, honest knowledge about what your peers value in a leader. What makes it so valuable is the removal of a power relationship. In the future there is a strong possibility that you will be leading a population comprising of your peers. Gathering feedback when in position of leadership will be met with carefully filtered responses. This is your opportunity to collect untouched ideas- that gold; to investigate it, and store it away. In other words, how attentive and curious you are (in this discussion) is your personal investment to your future self.

…definition of a leader is “one who brings a positive directive influence on someone else’s life”, then we are talking about leadership that ‘moves’ people. This is more about who you are than what you do. Therefore : INFLUENCE IS NEVER HELD IN YOUR POSITION BUT IN YOUR CONNECTION The question, then, is not ‘do you have a leadership position?’, but ‘are you a leader?’ Because leadership is not a job we do it is who we are.
Direct Quote: Becoming the Attentive Leader
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly[a] with your God.
~ Micah 6:8
