International Student in the United States

· Students who came early and waited outside were three Americans, one Arabian and two African that I’m not sure if they were Americans or international students.

· I heard the Americans chatting outside one of them said "Hey, what's up! Did you guys finish the homework that it's due tonight?" one of them replied with "No I haven't even started it", and the other one said, "Nah, I only did the first two questions."

· I went with my friend Maryam and she told me that there is no grade on the attendance for this class.

· After five minutes I went inside the class and the student starts to come inside the classroom.

· There were two Asian students sitting at the back quietly before the class started.

· Also, there were a group of Arabian students chatting in Arabic quietly and sitting at the back of the class.

· The professor is a Korean guy and he came two minutes before the class time.

· The row in front of me there was two American students that turn their back to an African student who was sitting next to me and my friend Maryam. One of the Americans said to the African "Q are you ready for next week?" and the African replied with "I feel pretty confident about it." And then Maryam joined them and said "Guys is he going to post a study guide for the exam?" and one of the American students said, "we should ask him today."

· The class started on time.

· The professor reminded the students that the homework is due tonight.

· The professor starts lecturing by using the projector to introduce problems and then he solved them on the board.

· Some of the students were taking notes and some of them was just listening

· Few students were distracted with their phones and they were not paying attention to the lecture.

· During the lecture, few of the American students asked questions and the professor seems to be happy to explain.

· Although the professor explained the students doesn’t seem to understand the answer of the professor so other students were trying to clear it out for their friend.

· After the class, the Arabian students gathered and start talking in Arabic together and walked out of the class together.

· The two Asian students walked out together quietly.

· I walked out with my friend Maryam and she was talking to the same group she was talking to before the class. One of the American guys said “Now I’m worried about the exam”

· I think the professor is giving a comfortable environment for the students to ask questions during class time, but he is not able to deliver the material clearly.

· Students seem to be having a hard time studying for this class.

· Some of the international students seem to be isolating themselves to sit in the back and not engage with the other classmates.

· The class environment is similar to what it looks like in our country

· The only difference that I notice between the classes here in the U.S. and in my country is that in our country they separate the boys and girls classes while in the U.S. there is no difference between genders in education.
