Nutrition Project

KINE1164

Your Nutrition Project is due by the end of lesson 6  There will be 2 files (overall cronometer 3-day trend report AND the word document where you answer the paragraphs below)

1. Please open and read “How To Use Cronometer 1” help file before you begin the nutrition assignment. This file will help you submit the files correctly.

2. Go to https://cronometer.com and enter food and beverages on three consecutive days (ex: Friday, Saturday or Sunday).

3. Dcoument each of the 3 days and save the 3-day summary report for your nutrient intake as a .pdf file. When doing your summary, make sure you click on trends button, chose last 7 days, and the drop down menu for “completed days” instead of “all days” to have an accurate summary.

4. Please use word editing (ex: Microsoft Word) software and analyze your data. Your written report must include:

First paragraph include how you are doing with your diet (what you eat regularly). Is it good or bad and make some comments about it. Based on the analysis, are you getting enough nutrients? Are you getting too much of something? Are you getting too little of something? List all the vitamins and minerals that you were low in.

Second paragraph name a vitamin and or mineral that your analysis says you are low in or lacking (below 100%). Use ones that are the lowest. Use a good resource and cite it. I do not want your opinion. Use Livestrong.com, webmd.com, or another reputable website and explain the importance of this vitamin or mineral in the body. Please make sure you understand what you have written and could explain it. This should be informative and more than one sentence. Next, name 3 food items that you should be eating to ensure that you are getting this into your diet. Use something that you will eat.

Third paragraph same as above, but something you are high in. Include everything as in paragraph 2. What is the “source”? Go back to your Intake Spreadsheet to discover the source. Can you find something else to eat? Can you eliminate this from your food intake? Would you be willing to eat less of this item?

Last paragraph include your overall thoughts. Are you going to try to lose weight or do you need to gain weight? Do you know where the calories will come from that you are trying to cut out to lose weight? For example, I eat too much ice cream etc. Are you going to stop the fast food? Are you going to try to cut out foods that have no nutritional value? Has this changed the way you look at food or eating in the fact that you are eating to give yourself nutrition or to fill your belly? Have fun and learn something.

Upload the 2 documents (overall cronometer 3-day trend summary report AND word file) in blackboard.
