Philosophy of Nursing
Introduction
Nursing management is crucial for the wellbeing of human beings since it allows them to
receive proper healthcare at all times. The philosophy of nursing involves beliefs, ethics, and
values that promote productive patient outcomes at all times based on their needs. There is a
strong requirement for nurses to get motivated to handle healthcare requirements since this offers
an effective basis of generating productive patient outcomes. It is imperative for all nurses to
understand how the four metaparadigms of nursing promote better health outcomes. Nurses can
form suitable perspectives about their professional environments in methods that define holistic
management of patient care.
The Four Metaparadigm of Nursing
Improvement of patient outcomes is possible using these metaparadigms of nursing: nursing,
environment, person, and health (Mcewen & Wills, 2017).
Nursing is broad concepts that involves a nurse who is required to always adopt
professionalism while handling patients. There is a strong requirement for nurses to
receive advanced training that improves their skills and knowledge of dealing with
patients.
Environment is a metaparadigm component that deals with external and internal factors
of a patient. The component ensures patients get provided with resources that improve
their health outcomes at all times.
Person is a component that ensures focus on a patient’s belief, culture, family,
background, and friends who influence their reception of healthcare.

Health is a component that ensures a patient receives treatment tailored to their needs
since the process requires a healthcare environment to et provided with suitable
resources.
My Additions and Deletions to the Metaparadigm
After assessment of the metaparadigms discusses above, I believe the fifth suitable
addition would be ethics. Ethics is crucial in nursing environment and should get studied
uniquely since it is a broad concept that promotes productive management of morality concepts
required of all nurses (Mcewen & Wills, 2017). Ethics is very imperative in a healthcare
environment since it assists all decision-making procedures to focus on patients’ outcomes. The
process of ensuring adherence to all obligations that nurses get provided with can get handled
using ethics management in nursing. The concept of ethics in nursing involves accountability,
beneficence, principles of justice, and beneficence that promote better patient outcomes (Gaines,
2021). In this regard, adding the concept of ethics to the four metaparadigms of nursing would
generate better health outcomes.
Conclusion
There is a strong possibility of promoting holistic care as all the concepts of the
metaparadigm of nursing get implemented. It is productive to handle effective patient care at all
times by studying their issues and generating valid solutions at all times. The process of
generating full treatment for patients is possible as they get focused as persons that require
healthcare. A healthcare department would then place nurses conversant with the exact patient
issue to be in-charge of them and handle required care management. Another productive method
of improving patient outcomes is by ensuring they constantly stay in a positive environment that
impacts on their mental ability to receive proper healthcare. It is important to involve this

concept of the metaparadigm since it works cohesively with nurse’ expertise to promote full
patient treatment.
The metaparadigm of nursing works better as it constantly produce care tailored to
patients’ needs. This is possible using the health component which works collaboratively to
handle patient treatment and using nurses’ vast skills to suggest the best treatment technique. To
ensure all patient treatment methods are suitable the nursing component is the most crucial basis
for handling patient needs. In all these ways, patients will receive suitable care.
