Nursing Philosophy

A person’s personal ethics, motivations and values in the nursing field are shown through their nursing philosophy. Human dignity, respect, autonomy, social justice, and honesty are fundamental nursing ideals. The humanistic and spiritual philosophies of the nursing profession are reflected in these essential values (Karlsson & Pennbrant, 2020). I believe it is very significant that I acquire certain core values as a forthcoming nurse in order to properly perform my tasks. The values that are required are understanding, love, compassion and having patience towards the patient. I plan to treat every patient with the same care when it pertains to understanding and universally acceptable empathetic.

My understanding of health is that a comprehensive idea which includes every issue of comfort. It aims to focus an individual’s whole well-being as well as the lack of disorders. It is a condition in which a person is in good social, physical, and mental health. An objective, culturally and economically productive life is possible for anyone. A nurse must utilize critical thinking abilities to make judgements that support effective care delivery. The development of critical thinking emphasizes qualities like self-assurance, tolerance, and originality (Chan, 2019). I seek to promote and improve patient’s health by applying my critical thinking abilities. Learning to have an open mind, working well in a team and how to handle difficult jobs improved my critical thinking abilities.

I plan to work as a Medical Surgical nurse and emergency room (ER) nurse in the future. The practice of providing nursing care is changing, and nurse’s responsibilities must grow to keep up. To care for patients with various illnesses, ailments, and situations needing urgent attention, an ER nurse collaborates with a group of other medical specialists. The task of a medical-surgical nurse is to observe vital signs, change dressings, insert catheters, start IVS, and maintain patients’ records. Furthermore, they work directly with patients prior and after they complete a surgical procedure. Medical-surgical nurses work together on discharge planning with the healthcare team, to ensure proper instruction and teaching are provided.
