Complementary pain management is a physical technique of reducing pain and it is associated with processes like massage, mindful mediation, spinal manipulation. Mostly the mind relaxation is the used where one is(A review of the state-of-the-science,n.d.) taken in a cool place for relaxation and hence enhance peaceful mind, prayer also is an aspect that is also used in a pediatric population.

There are some factors that ought to be considered in determining the choice of pharmacologic intervention for pain in the child. The child’s gender is one of the factors to consider and which is very important, their psychological and emotional state also has to be considered since this is caused by mostly the environment in which the child is. Culture and family norms is also an aspect for the extent of degree a child is able to experience the pain. The last but not the least aspect is the level of understanding of the child of which one ought to make the child to understand.

There are some interventions that have to be considered when planning painful procedures with the pediatric patient in order to enhance care. These interventions include the cognitive intervention which is mostly used with the older children to direct attention away from the pain. Behavioral interventions which are methods used to guides one’s attention from procedure-pain. Distraction is another method used to direct away attention of mostly children, this enables one to move away his/her attention away and focus on things like games maybe one is playing and help to reduce the procedural pain.

One unique element in stages of development of a toddler is that most of them will not be able to say all of the word clearly they will attempt to alter but not rightly although they try. In preschooler is that they have a very concrete and literal(Joy,2019) thinking capacity and hence are able to reason rightly. In school aged children they have smooth and motor skill while in adolescent is that they have physical and psychological transition where the body experiences change as a whole and from that point one is able to make a final decision.
