Purpose:

The purpose of the nursing metaparadigm paper, like all of the assignments in this course, is to help you prepare you to be a successful nurse. The paper should help you articulate your understanding and analysis of the different nursing theories you learned in the course. It should also help you formulate your own understanding of your own nursing metaparadigm.

Skills:

The purpose of this assignment is to help you practice the following skills that are essential to your success in this course:

· Module Outcome 3: Elaborate on the nursing metaparadigm and how it relates to holistic nursing care plan

Knowledge:

This assignment will also help you become familiar with the following important content knowledge in this discipline:

· Develop a connection between the nursing metaparadigm and your own interpretation of your metaparadigm

· Research theories that help fit into your own metaparadigm.

Task:

To complete the assignment, please complete the following:

1. Research the theories that you wish to include in your own metaparadigm.

2. Reflect on your own personal philosophy and even go back to your worldview paper that you wrote.

3. Draft a 1,000 – 1,250 word paper in Microsoft Word, please include the following:

a. Describe the theories in detail about why you included them specifically for the person, environment, health, and nursing.

b. Describe how the theories work well with your own personal philosophy.

c. Incorporate how your metaparadigm will incorporate into the holistic nursing care plan.

4. Please cite four sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 – 7 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content. If you feel that you are using a theory that is older than 5 – 7 years, which most of the grand theories are, please use research from the original theorist, which is called primary resource.

5. For all citations, use the APA 7th edition. Ensure your paper has the following:

a. Cover Page

b. Proper Headings within the body

c. Reference Page

d. Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1” margins

6. Submit your assignment by the due date.

· Language is clear and concise

· APA citations and format were used

“B” level

8 – 7 points

· Content is comprehensive and some elements were well supported

· Research is adequate but did not provide additional research than what was expected

· Content and purpose of the writing is clear but in parts, it was hard to follow

· Paper follows designated guidelines

· Minor grammar, usage, and punctuation errors are present

· Language is mostly clear and concise

· APA citations and format were used, but some minor errors were present

“C” level

6 – 5 points

· Content is not comprehensive or persuasive

· Major points are marginally addressed, nor well supported

· Research is inadequate or does not address course concepts

· Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought

· Structure of the paragraph is not easy to follow

· Paragraph transitions need improvement

· Paper follows some guidelines

· Paper is over/under word length

· Paper contains a few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors

· Language lacks clarity or includes the use of some jargon or conversational tone.

· APA format is used, but misses several points

“D” or “F” level

4 – 0 points

· Content is incomplete

· Major points are not clear and/or persuasive

· Organization and structure detract from the message of the writer

· Paragraph is disjointed and lack transition of thoughts

· Paper lacks many elements of correct formatting

· Paragraph is inadequate/excessive length

· Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors

· Language uses jargon or conversational tone

· APA format is not used
