Critical Appraisal of Research
Best practices in research refer to issues concerning research integrity. According to Kruk (2013), research best practices helps in promoting a moral imperative and is essential for good research. Best practices promote the integrity of research. Researchers should follow the best research practices from the start of research to the end. The critical areas include data handling, avoidance of errors, communication, and research training (Kruk, 2013). Research best practices increase the reliability of research since they guide researchers in engaging in desirable behavior when conducting the research. Best practices are the principles concerning researchers’ decision-making dynamics regarding the dos and don’ts. The activities of researchers are guided by the social, community, and individual values (Silverman, 2016). In the evidence-based project, the respect of human subjects in all the research studies was identified as the common best practice that emerged during the review.
R introductory paragraph is good but you could make it better by including one sentence that clearly defines the purpose of the paper. This is usually the last sentence in the introductory paragraph.
The researchers sought the consent of the participants in the research studies before they were included in the samples of the studies. All the data in the four studies were collected using questionnaires. The researchers contacted the respondents before issuing the questionnaires to establish whether they were ready to participate in the studies. The respondents were free to choose whether or not to participate in the studies. In addition, even after the questionnaires were issued, the respondents were free to opt-out at any time without seeking the permission of the researchers.
Informed consent is the best practice when conducting research. According to Silverman (2016), respondents should participate in a study intelligently, voluntarily, and knowingly. The autonomy of the respondents should be respected by allowing the respondents to make the decision without coercion. This best practice prevents assault and protects the veracity and liberty of the participants. When individuals give out information voluntarily, there is a likelihood that the information would be correct and give reliable findings (Silverman, 2016). The threat to dignity, inversion of individuals’ privacy, or physical harm should be compensated in the event of its occurrence. The researcher should inform the respondents of the method that would be used to protect the confidentiality and anonymity of the respondents.
Conclusion
you talked alot about general information but what is the best practice you found?
Research best practices are critical and affect the validity and reliability of the results of a study. Respect for human subjects in research is one of the best practices which has been practiced by the researchers in the four research studies in evidence-based research. Informed consent is essential in research to ensure the respondents are comfortable and free to give information without coercion. Assault, violation of privacy, and physical harm should be compensated during the research. Confidentiality, voluntariness, and disclosure gives the respondents confidence in the study increases the likelihood of collecting relevant information from the respondents
I think you are off topic in this discussion. The idea was to suggest a detailed best practice that you discovered in your research related to your topic. For example if I were researching CAUTI, and I found several systematic reviews that support the use of a CAUTI bundle, then the best practice would be to use a CAUTI bundle. You will need this for the next assignment
