Clinical Practice Guideline Executive Summary Checklist

The goal of an executive summary is to summarize your Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project, highlighting key points. The executive summary should be no more than 10 pages, written in APA 7 format. For academic writing, be sure to include appropriate citations and references. This is typically not part of an executive summary but should be included for purposes of this document. The following checklist provides a tool to develop the DNP Project executive summary.

Instructions for students:

· Indicate on the checklist the page numbers from the actual document where appropriate content is located.

· Respond to comments from the committee in the comment history box. Do not delete previous comments. Add your responses in the appropriate space.

Instructions for the DNP Project faculty advisor and second member.

· Provide specific feedback in the comment history column. Do not delete previous comments—just add your responses and use some means to clearly identify your remarks (e.g., colored, bolded, or italicized text).

· If you made detailed comments on the draft using track changes and comments, you can refer to such comments in the draft rather than copy the text into the checklist comment history section.

Describe elements in the background that connect to the reason for the practice change or gap in practice.
Discuss the project question and project purpose.
Identify evidence that supports the project change or gap in practice.
Briefly summarize the evidence supporting the change. Indicate the strength of the evidence.
Clinical Practice Guideline Development
Describe number and qualifications of expert panel and how they were selected to review the clinical practice guideline.
Describe process of review using the AGREE II tool.
Results
State results of AGREE II expert panel review including results of the 23 domains review using Likert Scale and any comments from reviewers.
Discuss review of proposed the clinical practice guideline from stakeholders/end users.
Discuss potential impact of adopting this the clinical practice guideline on the organization.
State limitations and how they impacted results.
Discuss why the project is important beyond the local site.
Conclusions
Summarize impact to organization.
Identify further recommendations that might be considered.
Discuss potential implications for nursing practice and for positive social change.
Describe evaluation method.
