Overview

This is a multi-step, multi-component assignment that you will want to start on early in the semester. At the start of the semester, starting thinking about individuals from another culture other than your own that you would like to interview and explore more about their culture.

By approximately half way through the semester, you will want to have selected an individual or family to interview that is diverse from you. This diversity can come in the form of race, ethnicity, culture, age (generation gap of at least one or more generations), class, power, privilege, ability, or sexual preference.

Prior to the interview you will develop interview questions. These interview questions are to be developed based on transcultural and diversity theory that you have learned in this course. You will have also learned about different cultural assessment tools that can help you prepare your interview questions. You will post your interview questions in the discussion board to receive feedback from your peers and course faculty prior to your interview. The overall goal of the interview is that you will be able to provide the best culturally competent, interdisciplinary care for a patient of a diverse population.

You will provide an overview of your interview as well as a culturally competent, interdisciplinary plan of care for the specific population you interviewed. This information will be presented via a PowerPoint presentation with video recording of student presenting the information utilizing the Kultura MediaSpace or Zoom platform.

The presentation should be no more than 15 minutes in length and contain no more than 25 slides, not including reference slides. The presentation will be submitted to the assignment dropbox for faculty grading. The presentation will also be posted to the course discussion board for classmate review and discussion.
