Part One

Healthcare technologies advantages and disadvantages

Healthcare technologies have become important for patients these days because they effectively overcome the disorders and teach the patients accordingly. The literature reviews showed that the patients could do better with the technologies in the diseases and disorders because the monitoring and evaluation become easier. The technologies do not increase or decrease the chances of opioid use disorders. For example, different technologies help to monitor OUD status. They do not help reduce the intensity or frequency of OUD use. Instead of it, they are friendly and can easily inform the patients how they need to manage them (Olivier, 2018).

There are different advantages that these technologies provide to the patients. The literature study showed that the patients could easily adopt the technologies, and they help in safety, protection and inform the amount of glucose that can be used daily. The patients claim that these technologies easily become a part of their life. Similarly, M health app informs the patients whether they are better or need the medication. Adherence to these technologies can help maintain health status in most patients. The disadvantages are fewer, but patients desire to have the technologies to reduce the level of disorders. For example, there should be a device to manage OUD (Huskamp, 2018).

I am using M health apps and OUD sensors, which are consistent with the literature review. Different authors and studies have claimed that both are good enough to produce better results, and health status is improved through them. They are consistent enough with the cited literature.

The potential barriers are the costs because different versions of these technologies are available, but top-quality and reliable machines are recommended. The patients are asked to afford the price as much as possible, and their family can consult the hospital management for the rest of the expenses. These technologies have moderate prices.

Care coordination and the utilization of community resources

The models of care are difficult to implement in low and middle-income countries. It is not easy to provide expensive technology and all the important model of care in hospital settings. Self-management and home-based care are promising approaches in the modern age (Tung, 2015). It is observed that the patients and their families have to play an important role in the interventions to prevent OUD. Different literature studies have shown that self-management with the help of families improves the patient's health status, and they are found to move to recovery. Usually, it is recommended that the patients be encouraged and that community resources like a healthy diet and physical activities be utilized to manage diseases and disorders (Rich, 2018).

The evidence is consistent with the approach I have planned for the patient. After the two-hour session with the couple, I learned that self-management and home care would be best for the patient. There is unity among the family members, and patients have a lot of people to take care so the approach will be suitable. The literature studies have also demonstrated that home-based care effectively manages opioid use disorders. The family, especially the patient's wife, will play an important role in the management and will take of the patient.

As far as the barriers are concerned, the patient may not be convinced about self-management because of aged or child-like behavior. The cost of the approaches is minimal. There were different strategies to minimize the cost in planning the approaches. The appliances or the technologies are already mentioned above, and the client has to pay for them. So, efforts are being made to reduce the costs in this context. The patient is advised to quit the sedentary lifestyle and to adopt healthy life full of a nutritious diet and physical activity. It will help to manage the different diseases and disorders. The costs will be minimal in these approaches for patients and the healthcare system.

Nursing Care standards and policies

American Nursing Association has recommended quality care to the patients. The ANA introduces some practices and standards for patients with opioid use disorders. The intensity and frequency of OUD should be monitored at every clinical visit. If the technologies are available at home, the family should keep an eye on the patient. Moreover, the nurses should show complete concern for the well-being of patients. The patients can be recovered when they are given the proper guidelines by the nurses (Lowfall, 2018).

These policies and care plans recommended by the government positively affected the current plan for the patients. Various recommendations helped me plan the evidence-based approach and home care for the patient. The patients may acquire hospital infections, and costs may increase, so it is recommended to follow the government's policies. The government has advised that the nurses should provide the proper care and guidance to the patients on the use of technology and for self-management. It is done in various steps, and patients are moved to healthcare and well-being (McCarty, 2018).

In the end, it is observed that the plan and the approaches have helped to maintain nursing ethics. The autonomy was maintained, and the patient's permission was acquired before planning. Though he was not fully convinced, his wife asked him to follow for his betterment. The approach of beneficence was also followed to increase the trust of patients in the nurses. No approach was taken that could be harmful to the patients. The patients are the main entities in the healthcare system, and it is recommended that all the patients be satisfied with the approaches being adopted. OUD is a complicated treatment that requires the autonomy of patients and also the involvement of guardians. The nurses have to completely restrict the use of opioid and have to empower the patients against the opioid. For this purpose, the health policy of affordable care act is implemented to reduce the costs and the autonomy is maintained to make all the decisions with the help of patient and family.

Plan to spend at least two practicum hours exploring these aspects of the problem with the patient

It is planned that the patient should know about all these expects and there should be a detailed conversation with the patient. The plan is to call the patient to visit the hospital or take-home care services. The patient will be visited at home. It is important to have a conversation to know his plans and thoughts about the abovementioned aspects. He should be told about his condition and chances of recovery. Moreover, he should be assured that the problems can be easily managed through proper treatment and care.

Part Two

Learning from the meet-up

I have called the patient to visit the hospital, and he visited with his wife. Both had a detailed conversation with me, discussing the current condition of the patient and the incidents before the onset of the diagnosis. I learned from the couple that the patient was fond of spicy foods and was addicted to smoking. There was no substance or drug use, but the smoking was maximum. Moreover, he had a sedentary lifestyle and led a retired life. There was a complete family to take care of him because his three sons and their families lived with them. The patient was taking the recommended medicines and did not quit smoking (Bruneau, 2018).

Learning from evidence-based practice documents or websites

The ANA introduces some practices and standards for patients with opioid use disorders. The intensity and frequency of OUD should be monitored at every clinical visit. If the technologies are available at home, the blood pressure should be measured every day. Moreover, the nurses should show complete concern for the well-being of patients. It is observed that the patients and their families have to play an important role in the interventions to prevent opioid use disorders. Different literature studies have shown that self-management with the help of families improves the patient's health status, and they are found to move to recovery.

Experience in exploring the effect of the problem on the quality of care, patient safety, and costs to the system and individual

I have learned that the quality of care can help the patient increase the quality of life. The nurses are appointed to take care of the patients through the policies, standards, and practices, and the nurses need to help the patients to recover. The quality of care is always appreciated in hospital settings, and the nurses can also guide home-based approaches. The home-based approaches positively affect patient safety because it protects from hospital-acquired infections and the costs of hospitals. In the end, I have learned that self-management and the quality of care practices help the patients to minimize the costs for the treatment. Undoubtedly, critical care in hospitals is required when the person is not well, but the home-based approaches are also effective.

Conclusion

The home-based approaches and self-management are important for the patients because it is observed that the patient was in stable condition. Hospital admissions are recommended when the health problem is serious. The technologies, including the m health apps and sensors, were recommended to be used, and the family was asked to play an important role in the patient's well-being. Though quitting a sedentary lifestyle and adopting a healthy lifestyle with physical activity are difficult, it is recommended that the patient follow the instructions for well-being in the future.
