Bullying

The healthcare promoters or nurses must identify the specific problem in an individual or a particular population to carry out their healthcare promotion strategies. For a problem to be worthy of attention, it must be critical to the well-being of the surrounding community. Nurses must play a key role in setting specific, quantifiable objectives and monitoring progress toward those goals. Healthcare strategies and goals are more likely to succeed when patients are adequately led and monitored. The cooperation of nurses and the full engagement of patients is beneficial for both the nurses and the patients.

Scenario

I was given a task to promote the health plan, and it was in a village in North America. Most of the population is Blacks, and the purpose of the health promotion plan was to know the reasons for bullying children and its consequences. Bullying is common among grown-ups, and blacks usually suffer more from it. I went to the village and asked the parents of school-going children to participate in the health promotion plan. Only those children who were bullied in any way by their mates or colleagues were taken.

Identify the chosen population and include demographic data.

The chosen population was the black children who were 13-17 years and were school-going. The economic situation of families was similar to one another. They belonged to black families without access to education or healthcare facilities. The parents did not have information on how children's physical or mental health was impacted by bullying. There were twenty participants, and seven were girls. The ratio of girls who go to school was less compared to boys. However, the demographic data showed that the families were similar and were not aware of bullying and its aftermath.

Characteristics of the group for this activity

The chosen group's characteristics were similar because of the identical financial and social conditions. The targeted population was school-going and was from the black community. Regarding blacks, their social and nutritional condition is not satisfactory. The targeted population was not physically strong, and most were just near or at the ideal weight. Bullying is more accessible when the target is physically weak or suffers from various mental health stresses or pressures. I have observed that they lack access to facilities like education or proper nutritional foods. All the children were fellows of the white community, and it was observed that they were bullied or harassed in either way. The population's characteristics must be determined because they have to be guided. The healthcare plan must adhere to their mental level or educational needs. It will be helpful in the future.

Why your chosen population is predisposed to this health concern or health need, and why they can benefit from a health promotion educational plan.

The topic is highly diverse, and the literature proves that the targeted population should be adequately explored. Bullying is a vast topic with different forms. the children don't need to get bullied physically, but there are many forms through which they can be harassed or tortured. (Hallgren, 2021) evaluated the bullying and mental health problems trends among the adults and their connection. The questionnaire was given to the participants to know the prevalence of healthcare issues. The students 15 to 18 years of age were included in the survey. The results showed that bullying was higher among girls and minorities. They are usually weak and cannot compete the others with strong mental or physical power.

(Xiaoou Man, 2022) and colleagues have researched the impacts of bullying in various countries and found that it has become a common problem. Bullying can be minimized only when the government takes action, or the authorities become concerned about the situation. The people must raise their voices against such activities.

Based on the health concern of your hypothetical individual or group, discuss what you would include in developing a sociogram.

The social groups will be included in the sociogram to improve the behaviors. Behavioral and mental counseling is essential in this regard. The social factors involve access to counselors, nurses and healthcare organizations (Iwanaga, 2018). I will include the families, especially the parents, to watch the children. I will consist of the teachers and school management to promote equality among the students. The students must be ensured that there will be no favoritism based on racial or ethnic groups. In the end, healthcare organizations should support the public in this aspect to strengthen the physical and mental health of the targeted population (Marcum, 2018).

Identify their potential learning needs. Collaborate with the individual or group on SMART goals that will be used to evaluate the educational session

The SMART goals for the educational session are as follows.

· The parents will know how the children can be guided to get the proper nutritional and mental therapies after the bullying in the next three months.

· The children will be strong enough to fight against the bullying and raise their voices for their rights in the next three months (Ha Thi Hai Le, 2019).

Identify the individual or group's current behaviors, outline clear expectations for this educational session, and offer suggestions for how the individual or group's needs can be met.

The current behaviors are not encouraging. The parents do not have proper awareness of their children's mental health. They need the proper educational sessions in this regard.

Outline

Clear expectations

· It is expected that the ratio of bullying will be reduced

· It is expected that the children will be strengthened physically and mentally

· The parents are expected to be educated.

Suggestions

· The parents should attend the educational sessions with the children

· The proper examination of children should be done medically and nutritionally

Health promotion goals must be clear, measurable, and appropriate for this activity. Consider goals that will foster behavior changes and lead to the desired outcomes.

The health promotion goals are as follows.

· The students/children/targeted group will be given education on bullying and the steps against it in the next three months.

· The parents will be counseled to determine children's mental health as the consequences of bullying.

· The students will be given proper nutrition and mental health therapies against bullying in the next three months.

Conclusion

Bullying is a curse, and it should be avoided. The parents need to keep an eye on the children that how they are being treated in school. Mental health should be examined, and parents and children should attend educational sessions to promote physical and mental health.
