Qualitative research design seeks to establish the responses as to “why” and “what” about the research phenomenon. It seeks explanations rather than numerical answers. · Mixed-Method. The research design is a study technique that applies both the quantitative and qualitative research designs in the same study. · Clinical Guideline. Clinical guidelines are recommendations informed by systematic reviews of evidence to promote quality outcomes and safety. · Systematic Review. A systematic review is an overview that synthesizes various primary research studies conducted in a reproducible methodology to provide an explicit statement of objectives and methods. · Meta-analysis. It is a quantitative statistical analysis method that is to derive a conclusion about a specific topic from various separate but similar research studies. · Meta-synthesis. It is a collection of qualitative data from various research studies to develop new interpretation about a phenomenon and develop new theories. · Meta-aggregate is a procedure that seeks to inform a field of research from developing meanings from various quantitative studies done through different methodologies. · Systematic Review of Literature. Is a systematic procedure od critically appraising a research in a clearly defined protocol to inform a clearly formulated question, usually developed before the review. · Dissertation or Thesis. A thesis is a relatively long essay that poses a significant research question and seeks to answer it through providing empirical evidence and discussion. · Define “quantitative” and the other designs or publication types listed. Why do we care if it is peer-reviewed? A primary research is a research in which the research is directly involved in the data collection process rather than depending on data collected in other studies. Secondary research relies on data from other studies conducted in the past to explain a phenomenon or inform a research body. Examples of non-research publications include blogs, book chapters, and blog posts. To understand if an article is peer-reviewed, one searches the websites journal and newspaper listing, check for the database with the article’s full text, follow the link and search for the article with the filter for peer-reviewed articles checked.
