1. Why did you select your news story? What about the story makes it interesting to you both personally and scientifically?

I selected the topic on global warming since it is one of the most recent scenarios and topics in the recent world emerging issues. Research and different studies have been conducted globally to determine the green housing effect effects and the global land area. When global warming temperatures are below 2 degrees celsius then there are minimal hazards on the environment and surrounding at large. It is noticeable that earthly water bodies have different resources according to the global warming temperatures which differ from 2 degrees and 1.5 degrees.

2. What did you already know about the topic before selecting the news story? What opinions or assumptions had you made about it?

I already understood what global warming is even before I made the selection. I had once heard about global warming effect on the water bodies and resources. I had learned that temperatures increase would have an impact on global warming but had the assumptions that global warming was just caused by human activities. Global land areas are affected generally by the heavy flows and flooding which is affected by the temperature increase significantly by 2 degrees. I had no idea that global prone have a connection in terms of percentages to the temperatures changes.

3. Which concepts covered in the course relate to your news story? How?

The environmental research by the Goethe University Frankfurt relates to the scientific researches and conclusions covered in class. Most importantly the research uses the water resources to reference the effects of global hydrological models in climatic analysis. The research group led by Professor Petra Döll uses several climatic simulations to cover the global areas. The group analyzed the macro and microsimulations to quantify the climatic conditions. They utilized the calculations on climatically changes and risks which face the global prone areas hence showing the characterization of human behaviors and water sources as temperatures changes. The temperature analysis is an indicator of the covered research requirements. It helps researchers and scientists discover what areas are globally at risk due to the effects of global warming.

4. What question do you have about the topic in the news story? Select one question that interests you based on your topic exploration graphic organizer and previous responses.

What would be the effect or limitations of global warming if the temperatures are increased by 1.5 degrees Celsius to 2.5 degrees Celsius? Would this lead to total drying up of the water bodies such as the rivers, oceans, and lakes within a year?

5. Why would this question be important to a natural scientist?

Global warming is very crucial in the day to day activities of the country and its effects can affect the water bodies which would have a negative impact on human activities. This will affect the water life since most microorganisms will die or water bodies end up drying up due to the temperatures. This will mean maximum hazards on the environment and surrounding at large. Global warming effect ruins and minimizes the survival rates of water associated life.
