Resistance to change can hinder production and success in the workplace. Change is an inevitable part of companies keeping up with modern society. Antiquated policies, procedures and technology, not only slow the effectiveness of the work production, but can also result in the demise of a company. Many individuals are resistant to change, viewing a new way of doing things as "Disruptive, intrusive and unpredictable" (Mennella, 2017). Often, employees don't see a need to change something because, "We've always done it this way", or "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Fear of the unknown can also cause individuals to resist change. This can be related to personal feelings of potential failure, or lacking the skills needed for leadership, or lacking knowledge in the latest in modern technology.

Some of the ways to introduce learning and compliance to my change project regarding wound care, is by being available to my co-workers to answer questions or provide information regarding various treatments involving pressure ulcers, through skilled communication. Keeping up-to-date on the latest in wound care therapy, will demonstrate proficiency in my clinical and communication skills in training my colleagues. Having the acceptance of staff feedback involving wound care, will also demonstrate my acceptance that we are a team of professionals who are learning through shared thoughts and concerns involving wound care, and are doing what's in the best interest for our patient's. Providing positive feedback and recognition for each member of the healthcare team, will also encourage and maintain compliance, by making each professional feel like they are a valued member of the staff.
