Topics covered: Early Colonial Governors – In the early days of colonial occupation the 4 Governors who were assigned to the colony were responsible for shaping the direction of this outpost of the British Empire.
Instructions
Report Task: Investigate the contributions of one (1) of these Governors and fully research their achievements (or failures). Research the background of your chosen Governor and discuss the impacts this person had on the progress of the development of the new colony.
Research Background: (Governors) Select from ONE of the following:
· Captain Arthur Phillip
· Captain John Hunter
· Captain Philip Gidley King
· Captain William Bligh
Research Sites: You will be provided with a reference list of appropriate resources for the Governor you are investigating. If you wish to use other research sites or resources please consult your teacher prior to use.
Summary: To conclude this report you are to justify any of your own comments on what you consider to be the main impacted created by your chosen identity (Governor).
Academic Integrity and Turnitin in Study Smart:
All Assignments are to be submitted to Study Smart where you will obtain a Turnitin Report identifying content that is not your own to provide you with an opportunity to make changes.
· Your first submission to Turnitin must be at least four college days prior to the submission date.
· You must review your similarity score on Turnitin and if it is greater than the Percentage allowed for this assignment by your faculty you must edit your work and resubmit at least two college days prior to the submission date.
Plagiarism and cheating will result in a penalty.
· 1st offence = 0 for task
· 2nd offence = 0 for coursework
· 3rd offence = 0 for that subject
An Anti-Plagiarism Declaration Form and a Cover Sheet must be attached to the paper copy that you hand to your teacher. (Do NOT attach to the electronic version.
The paper copy and the electronic version must be identical otherwise you will receive a zero (0) grade. If your teacher does not require a paper copy you are still required to submit the signed cover sheet.
Read the Notes on the Assignment Cover Page before you sign and submit it with your assignment.
Maximum Turnitin Percentage allowed: 30%
Penalties for Late Submission of an Assignment:
· 20% deduction for 1 day.
· 40% deduction for 2 days.
· 60% deduction for 3 days.
· Zero from that point onwards
An extension may be granted due to illness if you submit a Medical Report. See further information below.
Medical Report for late Assignments:
If an Assignment is late due to illness a Medical Report form (found in Study Smart) needs to be completed by a Registered Medical Practitioner (doctor) in order to have the opportunity to reverse the rules above.
