Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Houston (Name of organization) in Houston, Texas
They partner with parents/guardians, volunteers, and donors to provide children with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change lives for the better, forever. Their vision is that all children can achieve success in life.
Attended a Huddle that takes place every Tuesday @ 1pm.. The Huddle is for predictions (projecting) monthly goals. YTD actual & goal year end goal...
The things that are discussed include:
applications, volunteer interviews completed, new matches and close matches
government grants, united way, foundations, special advanced revenue
agency expenses, supplies and material, marketing and recruitment, general and administrative
They discussed that projects needed to be accurate..
They have different events. I attended a Gala for Bigs and Littles where they bidded on different prizes to raise money for the organization.
I did some administrative work such as putting folders together for the bigs and littles which provided applications, pamphlets, handbooks.. etc.
What are sources do Big Brothers Big Sisters perform?
· Mentoring agency that recruit volunteers, parents and children.

· Community based and school based that is supervised by staff

· values- collaborate together and communicate example, start a program that is discussed with staff, so everybody can be prepared.
How’s the culture being sustained or changed?
· evaluations, feedback/ rewards of organizations and surveys
· values they go by- commit to safety, honor relationships, exudes gratitudes, seeks collaborations.
What is the communication within the organization like?
· platform communication based online, emails, phone, huddles every tues, meetings on thursdays
Recruiting volunteers..they must fill out application, background check, three references, volunteer experience
Children.. call or send in applications, have parents to fill application.
