An employment law that Nick has to keep in mind during the hiring process of the waitress is the hour and wage laws how their employees will be paid this is because this law is among the violated and complicated in the restaurants. Nick has to make sure the employed waitresses are paid what is stipulated in the federal and local law. If they don’t include this law the restaurant may be faced with steep financial liabilities from a legal complaint filed by the previous or current employees. If this employment law is not included then it will result in a less pleasing dining experience for the guests since there will be a decline in sales and also if an employee will not be paid properly it will lead to an increase in training and recruitment cost for ownership since there's likely to bee turnover (HOME, 2017).
Based on the nicks resources the job description of their waitresses includes ensuring the booths or tables are packed with all the items that are needed, they also have to ensure the work area and the dining area are free and clean from any clutter, besides that they take and receive orders for drinks and food to the customers or guests, and provide menus to the clients, the waiters serve the guest on time to ensure the customers are well taken care of. They also have to greet the visitors as they arrive and direct them to their tables.
The training process of the person you hire should begin with an orientation program for someone or two days, the trainees should learn the organization's culture to understand how things are done in the organ, they also have to learn about the values of the company for them to know how they should conduct themselves and they also know what traits to avoid, they should also learn about the purpose of the unit to enable them to focus on attaining the goal of the company. They also have to engage themselves in practicing different roles for them to exercise the lessons learned. To be more efficient in what they do they’ve to be trained in different levels before they're fully absorbed. This training process will ensure efficiency in the new team.
I will consider these factors during the performance appraisal process of servers, I will consider their performance standards if they're meeting the expectations that are consistent for every server, I will also consider employes communication and I will also communicate to them on the minimum requirements for one to retain their jobs, I will consider measuring performance is also since it'll be easier to track and review if the servers are performing or not. The employee metrics are another factor for the comparison of servers will give me an idea of whether the issue is with the training or with the servers themselves if they're underperforming I will consider this among other factors. The nicks prefer the coach at the moment and give feedback on the go.
Nicks motivates their employees by building incentives that can increase their employees' pay, for they all start at a minimum wage, but as the employees progress to a higher level, their salary is increased. They get 80% of the profit-sharing pot if they hit four goals.
The ideal leadership style in Nicks restaurant is path-goal model since he engages in actions that compliment his staff abilities, he trusts their character and their competency, he shares the same values with his stuff he believes in doing what's right, and trains his employees with the best skills which can help them even when they're out of his restaurant. He values his employees like his family and he engages in nothing that can affect his employees negatively his leadership skills are simply amazing.
