Final Project
OVERVIEW OF THE Power Point Presentation and the PAPER Format:
· The cover page should be formatted in the APA format
· The reference page, which you should have a minimum of ten sources, should also adhere to the APA documentation style (see example below)

· In a formal paper no contractions should be used unless it is part of a quote
· Right and left margins are balanced
· You must use at least one of the theoretical perspectives and the appropriate/relevant concepts in your analysis and discussion of selected issue
· Remember you are utilizing an objective approach in your analysis
· Select your topic. Remember it should be something that you are able to do in the framework of time you have to work within. Because it is sociology you select any issue, but keep in mind that you will have to narrow it down to a specific component of an issue. Below are some possible ideas:

Step 2: What do I want to focus on? At this point, you may want to begin thinking about what direction you may want to go in with your selected topic. Think about what you want to specifically examine about your topic-i.e., if you wanted to examine technology and its impact on social interpersonal skills- how would you narrow it down?
· There should be a minimum of 20 slides
· Your first slide should act as a ‘cover page’ and the second slide should be an overview of the selected theoretical perspective. If it is a group presentation, the slides should be in sequential order (i.e., in the order of how you all will present the information)
· There should be a minimum of three hyperlinks. **If it is a group presentation, each member should provide at least two hyperlinks each in their set of slides.
· The slides should not be full of text(your paper on slides), but a bulleted presentation of what you will discuss and present to the class
· Use of color and applicable clip art is key!!! But make sure it is balanced where the text is visible and the clip art does not overwhelm the slides; or it is difficult to see the text itself
Step 3: Literature Search : this is where you begin pulling out the resources you will need for your presentation and use or possible use for the paper component. Do not use sources that may not be highly reliable and/or open to additions and subtractions by the general public (e.g. Wikipedia) or dictionaries. Note: this is only in reference to using them as one of your references. Utilizing pictures or the like is ok for the power point portion)
Step 4: Theoretical Perspective – you will need to use at least one of the theoretical perspectives or their sub theories in an applied and integrated manner. During your oral presentation, you should provide a synopsis of the perspective and how it will be applied in your presentation.
q. MACRO LEVEL(large scaled social issues).
1. Associated with the quantitative method.
2. Either the conflict or functionalist perspectives are the associated theoretical perspectives.
r. MICRO LEVEL (small scaled social issues).
1. Associated with the qualitative method.
2. Symbolic Interactionism is the associated theoretical perspective.
Step 5: Conclusion – In this section you summarize your key points, along with providing several recommendations of how the issue you selected could be addressed by applying the methods and theoretical perspectives used. Also, in this section, unlike the first sections you can use the subjective voice (first person – I, my, etc.). You can also include some of the factors that you may have from across in your research, why you selected the issue, etc.
