Section One – Possible Alternatives

The first problem Netflix faces is failure to identify the right technology that can help the company to design good data mining approaches. In that regard, the company becomes vulnerable to security and privacy threats (Akokhia, 2017). Moreover, Netflix has sufficient monetization off all their uploads that bandwidth costs do not kill them. Also, they're required to stream (not even locally cache) videos by some of their content deals. This is caused by a kooky notion some content providers have that hampering the service in this way will reduce piracy (Akokhia, 2017). We at Bit Torrent could reduce their costs a lot if it were allowed .

Netflix is facing a lot of challenges if it decides to enter China, and I don’t think the investment is cost-effective. The primary challenge Netflix would face is not piracy, but government censorship (Flegkas, 2021). Because of the ridiculous, inconsistent, and ever-changing censorship regulations of the Chinese government, Netflix would end up cutting down half of its library due to “sexual content” or “ideology issues”. Not to mention the lengthy government review and approval process. It’ll take forever for the government to review all the content and give feedback. And what's considered "OK" this month, might not be "OK" next month. It is never ending endeavour that will require constant resources and manpower investment.

Netflix had bribed some government official to go easy on its content and speed up the process, and somehow get the approval with… say… about 60% of its content . They’ll need a local “publisher” to work with them, to figure out membership and payment process, and to hire a localization team to add Chinese subtitle to all the TV shows and movies (Flegkas, 2021). That’s another expenses, even considering the cheaper labour cost doing the translation in China. And, good translators are hard to come back . If not careful with the people you hire and get good quality control process

This device runs popular apps that aggregate digital content from around the web, seamlessly delivered with user ratings, update notifications and even social functionality share - recommend shows to your friends (Lee et al., 2015). It should be noted that before Xiao Mi cornered the market, people would watch online with very little trouble, but the ease and polish of this UX has made this the preferred way to binge watch in China.

The last problem that Netflix faces is lack of appropriate management strategies which leads to poor planning, controlling, co-ordinating and organizing in the company. Management is the essence of business. Management as a body of corporate performs the functions of management which includes the planning, organising, coordination, directing, staffing, decision making and controlling (Lee et al., 2015). Therefore, failure by the management to adequately perform each of these functions will negatively affect the functioning of the entire company. Moreover, if any of the above functions stated above is not performed properly, it can ruin the business. Therefore, for every problem in any corporate structure, management is held responsible.

However, with the never ending battle of net neutrality raging in the US, it’s probably not in Netflix’s best interest to take up considerably more network resources by using viewer’s uplinks (Lee et al., 2015). Doing so could motivate ISPs even further into their push against net neutrality. Of course, as previously mentioned, any contracts that Netflix has in relation to their video delivery will play a role as well. Many still view P2P technology in a very old school way, even if the truth is that P2P delivery is very helpful and may possibly even become a necessity given the ever-increasing demand for video content. However, I’m slightly less convinced by the argument that Netflix makes enough money to pay for its bandwidth without P2P.

The poor management at Netflix results from poor leadership because most people in leadership positions are poor leaders (Lee et al., 2015). As a result, they are too focused on the expectations their boss has about them and not enough about federating those below who will ultimately make them successful. The second reason is lack of the visibility of those above. In both cases, the situation can be easily resolved through good communication which requires good leadership skills . In biotech companies, as in all start-ups businesses, leadership is very challenging because of the numerous pivots which might be required before finding a viable market fit and it is just the nature of the beast.

Section Two – Recommended Plan of Action

Netflix will need a proper path in its policy and selecting the right instrument for data mining are among the essential protocols to be followed by the company if it has to succeed . The technologies to be used include the data mining that is used to help the extract information from massive sets of data. Therefore, the company’s procedure of data mining knowledge from data will need to include the business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modelling, evolution and deployment etc. It refers software enables organizations to analyse data from various sources in order to determine patterns and the best data mining tool such as Spark, R, Python, Orange, Rapid Miner etc., will need to be in place.

Secondly, an integrated database should permanently be established to avoid the problems and effectively implement some beneficial approaches toasting market involvement and streams of customers. The Netflix UI engineers left on a few eager tasks to drastically change the client experience on our desktop and versatile stages. Given a UI overhaul of a scale like that experienced by TVs and diversion reassures, it will be crucial for the corporation to re-assess its current UI technology stack and to figure out if to investigate new arrangements (Y. C. P., 2015). Quite a bit of its current front-end framework comprises of hand-moved parts streamlined for the present site and iOS application. However, the company’s choice to embrace React will be impacted by various components, most outstandingly start-ups speed, runtime performance, and modularity .

The company needs to rethink the pricing . Its fair (500 for 1, 650 for 2 and 800 for 4) but still, at the start they should consider, especially the single screen one (Y. C. P., 2015). Also, streaming involves a lot of data usage, so people on Limited Broadband plans hit rock-bottom there (though it is lesser than downloading a torrent of the same episode). Broadband speeds do not reach much high speeds (and definitely not within a reasonable price range). US users get Google Fibre (1 GBP/s speed) for a few bucks or regular 150-200 mbps speed internet, so they can get good quality streaming. The same has to be done here as well. If that goes well then Netflix will work.

In a typical 1 TB HDD (assuming it allows 950 GB space), U can store 3200 45 min serial episodes (assuming each episode is 300 MB). That is a lot. But then Netflix has Hundreds of Thousands of episodes at your disposal, which u can watch anytime. A 1 TB HDD costs around 5000 Rupees and Netflix's minimum package (800 for 4 screens i.e. 200 per person if shared with 4 people) gives you 25 months of subscription for the same amount .

Theresa,

This is MBA level assignment. Your paper doesn’t meet basic requirement of organisation and proper formal language with no jargon.

Where are headers for subchapters?

Please see my comments below. Unfortunately, your grade for this submission will be 10/100. I provided detailed explanation below for each section.

Alex

In the paragraph that started as a list of problems this sentence seems disconnected as talking about something good. If I am right, “moreover” doesn’t fit this sentence.

Following sentence clearly talks about the problem again. What is correct and where is the logic?

This is jargon word which you do not use in academic writing

Who are we? And how are you connected to this case? And why is this relevant to the case?

I do not see any logic connecting your first and second paragraph

Avoid this kind of writing, this is not appropriate for the formal scholarly writing.

Who said it? Where is the source?

Come back where? From where

This sentence is not complete and logically not connected to anything

What device? You just spoke about people?

Who are they? Introduce abbreviation properly

Same as above – introduce terms and abbreviations properly.

Some citation here would be very helpful to make your writing more reliable.

How is this related?

In general this section doesn’t meet any requirements of this assignment.

Section I should include following parts:

Problem statement and possible causes

Presentation of alternative solutions (justified suggestions on what and how the problems might be addressed)

What is the link between the above content and data mining?

What is It?

What is this? Introduce abbreviation properly. Your readers might not know special terminology

This source is not on your reference list

Will be or was ?

You take the discussion to absolutely new direction which is not connected to your section I and absolutely disconnected from the task requirement.

Section II should include:

Comprehensive analysis of the alternatives presented in Section I

Recommendation – what is the proposed alternative and why

High level implementation plan of the chosen alternative.

In your section II none of above exists

Alex

All this seems to be disconnected from the rest, improperly written: professional jargon, casual jargon.

There is no even one source here that formatted properly.
