Personal statement

My wish has always been to study accounting up to doctorate level. My interest in the field has been influenced by many factors. To begin with, I have been interested in subjects involving mathematics and business from an early age. Secondly, pursuing Masters in accounting will quench the thirst I have for knowledge of in accounting. Third, studying accountancy at masters level will equip with knowledge of teaching other people who want to join the noble profession of accountancy.

Ask to explain my plans for pursuing masters in the field; I remember the journey that has led me to the place where I clearly know what I want in life. Two year ago on January 29th, 2016, I joined the University of San Diego. From the onset, I felt as part of the accounting community and joined its university to take part in the weekly accounting events. I greatly believe that higher education institutions have a place for me where I can develop my love for academia and have the opportunity of assisting other people later in my life.

There are reasons why I need to study within the university. First, staying in the university for over two years has made me feel like the place is my second home. Secondly, I enjoy the studying life in School of Business of University of San Diego and want to continue being a part of School of Business community. The third reason is that I like interacting with students and helping them in accounting topics where they need tutorials but cannot get a lecturer easily. Although I am not a tutor at the moment, I still assist students who are in Olin study area.

My work experience is comprised of both paid employment and volunteer programs. I have volunteered for the Feeding American San Diego in March 2012 where my job involved checking the quality of food if it was god for human consumption. I also assisted in cleaning the warehouse of the organization where food was stored. My success in the area in both academic and co curricular activities has reinforced my desire to live and study within San Diego. Continuing with my education in the place would assist me in expanding my network and familiarizing myself with the teaching so that I may in future achieve my ambition of getting employment here and assisting the professors in their jobs.

The vision of the University of Innovative Change Makers can confront challenges of humanity fits within my scope of using accountancy to help in development of the financial world. Its mission of improving academic excellence while preparing its students to be ethical, good leaders, and employees capable of giving quality services matches my ambitions in accountancy. The core values of academic excellence, knowledge, community, ethical conduct, and compassionate service will also influence my service delivery once I am through with the system.

I have chosen accountancy as my career because I understand from personal perspective how accountancy is important in any form of business. I want to help mould other accountants and ease the professors of the department from their workload by serving as a tutor after attaining my Master’s degree. I am optimistic that that once I have obtained Masters in Accountancy, it will mark the beginning if my professional life where I will make a difference in the world by training other accountants.
