A commission has released a survey which says the impact of social engineering in an organizations in industrial sector across USA, according to the survey 60% of security leaders say that their organizations were or have been victim for at least once or twice in the past, in addition to this their financial sectors were also breached in 20% of their attacks.

Social Engineering attacks: These are mostly based and rely on human interaction and fraud behavior to trick people. Mostly fastest growing enterprises were the major targeted says the employees, their accounts and credentials have also been compromised as a result of the attack, while some attacks based on traditional attacks such as software bugs and misconfigurations, which attacks and take advantages of human vulnerabilities to trick targeted victims by performing harmful actions. Most of the companies think that if they train their employees to be aware of malicious emails that would be enough for it but however it is impossible for anyone to be consistently monitored for social engineering based emails. Social engineering attack might be the oldest way of attack on information systems, odysseus was the first hacker to use social engineering to secure the protocols. In 2015 a specialized manufacturer of wifi hardware and software based company based in san jose found that their finance department were targeted in a fraud scheme around employee, neither the company never revealed exactly how that attack was being initiated but they released some leads where they figured few emails were been purporting from the company in HONG KONG and without any verification the accounts department followed the instructions and accessed the email which lead to the attack which resulted in transferring over $50 million to different overseas accounts which later got onto hold. It was able to recover only $8 million of those transfers and the rest were permanently lost. (Wanner, 2016) (Dimitrijevic, 2014)
