For any person to cooperate with a decision, it is always important to make him/her feel respected. In this case, though the third person is not convinced with the decision to include a dress code, the policy has already been initiated. Now, we need to first try to understand what is the reason for this person to not agree with this decision. There is no need to disregard the other person’s ideas and thinking. Different people have different ways of thinking and not everyone needs to agree or disagree with a decision made and we need to respect that. Once we get this person’s perspective we can try and reason it out.

In order to gain cooperation from the third person we need to make him/her understand the importance of having a dress code. A proper dress code plays an important role in any work place. Even if it is working for a restaurant or a food chain, an appropriate attire is important. A perfect dress code would set a good impression on the customers as well as the clients. These points can be put forth in a friendly manner. There is no need for us to be rude or condescending. It is always good to have a positive attitude.

Another way we can gain cooperation of the third person is by sharing some personal experiences with regards to how adding a dress code has helped or improved your business in the past. People tend to agree with someone who has had a lot of experience and sharing personal experiences would help the third person understand your perspective. Sharing examples of successful businesses who have followed a dress code in the workplace can also be helpful. This information would have credibility and would change the person’s thinking.

Finally, when we make decisions about attire and dress codes it is always important to make sure that we don’t discriminate others. It should not affect a person in any way. So, when this policy of having a dress code doesn’t harm anybody then there is less reason for the person to not cooperate with the policy. The goal is to have a dress code and appearance standards that everyone can follow without people having to retaliate.
