Introduction
National Agricultural Development Company(Nadec) is considered one of the largest agricultural as well as a food processing company in the Middle East and North Africa. The company is said to have been established in the year 1981 by the royal decree, and it is also considered as a joint company whereby 20% goes to the government of South Arabia, and the rest is traded on the Saudi Stock exchange. Therefore, this company is considered to be a joint-stock company whereby it has an equity capital of SR 400 million which in most of the case is promoted by the Saudi Government (Benneth, 2017). NADEC is considered to be one of the companies which produce Milk products, juice fruits as well as a range of agricultural products. The other key thing to note about this company is that it is considered to be one of the largest specialized companies in terms of the procession of potatoes in the entire Saudi Kingdom. One of the approaches which have enabled it to attain this goal is since it is in a position to facilitate several research and also has got advanced libraries, which makes it produce the best potatoes. In this paper, we are going to make a review of the company's mission and vision statement as also compare it with that of the rival firms in the market.
Vision and Mission Statement of NADEC
Vision Statement: To become the Brand of Choice
Mission Statement: The main missions of the company are to produce, develop a range of nutritious products for all age groups, and also be in a position to create maximum shareholders value through teamwork. The company also aims at ensuring that it brings health and happiness to consumers and therefore creating value for their people, shareholders, and communities (Russell & Cohn, 2012).
Core Values: Some of the core values of the company include; Integrity, Respect for all, Passion and Quality.
A critique of the Company's Mission Statement and where it complies with it
The mission statement of any company is considered to be an essential tool when it comes to laying the foundation for all the organization strategies as well as objectives. The other thing is that it plays a critical role in presenting the right image of the company both to the general public as well as to the stakeholders. Therefore, when drafting a mission statement, a firm should be in a better position to ensure that all the key factors, as well as components, have been included in designing it. For our case, we are in a place to note that NADEC is one of the companies which has been in a position to meet both the needs of its customers as well as those of its shareholders (Benneth, 2017).
One of the main reasons behind my opinion is since the company is said to have full control of its quality systems rather than relying on its suppliers, this means that the company is in a position to have control the quality of the products which they offer to the consumers. The other key thing that makes the company keep in line with its mission statement its organization leader. Ashraf Abu Shaqra is the General Manager of Industrial operations within the company, who is usually focused on ensuring that they do deliver the highest standards needed by the customers. The other thing is that he plays a pivotal role by facilitating optimal efficiency more so when it comes to delivery of fresh products that have the right set of quality and at the right cost (Shoult, 2006). Shaqra states that its plant is ISO certified, and it is also equipped with the latest processing as well as filling technologies globally to ensure that it delivers the best products at all times, and this is in line with their mission statement. Most of the organization are observed to play a critical role when it comes to maximizing their shareholder's wealth, and NADEC is one of the companies which is in the forefront when it comes to meeting the needs as well as the expectation of its shareholders.
Comparison between the company’s Mission statement with that of its competitors
Some of the top ten competitors for the company include Agthi Group, Almarai, Al Safi Danone, Masafi, SADAFco, Alain Farms, IFFCO, Arla, BFI, among others. In this part of the paper, we are going to have a look at NADEC and Almarai company's mission statement and finding fundamental differences that are more likely to impact their performance (Russell & Cohn, 2012).
Almarai Co is considered to be one of the leading dairy producers in the company in terms of the market shares as well as its operations. Besides dealing with dairy products, the company also considered dealing with other essential commodities such as farm products such as fruit juices.
Vision statement: The vision statement of the company is to become the consumer-preferred choice by leading in the market through the supply of excellent foods and beverage products.
Mission Statement: To provide quality as well as nutritious food and beverages that enrich consumer’s livers every day.
A keen look at NADEC and Almarai Mission statement shows that all of them place a greater emphasis more so on their consumers. All of them have a better understanding that consumers play a more significant role in determining the success of the company, and there is a need to ensure that they deliver the best set of products that meets both their needs and expectations. Therefore, customers are considered to be a pivotal aspect for every business, and no business can hardly exist without them. This, therefore, makes sense for every company to ensure that they do include their customer's in the mission statement. This move allows them to remain focused on meeting the needs of their customers. For the case of these two companies, we are in a place to note that the mission statement in most of the instances guides a company on how business operations need to be done and also guides the top management when it comes to making strategic decisions for the entire business. Therefore, the mission statement of any of these company has got a positive impact when it comes to business performance as makes them customer-centric (Russell & Cohn, 2012).
Dangers of a Flawed Mission Statement
Mission statement in most of the case is used as a roadmap for guiding a company in terms of how big it wants its market share to be or in terms of reputation, performance, and returns. Incase NADEC has a flawed mission statement, and it is set to have an erroneous destination for the company in that the company won't be in a position to attain its objectives. The other thing is that the company will experience difficulties in terms of achieving its values, and finally, it will lead to the potential failure of the company (Shoult, 2006).
