The organization will immediately start producing non alcoholic beverages- coffee-because it has the necessary apparatus to produce as well as package the end products. To do so, the company has employed 5 employees, 2 of who have massive experience on non alcoholic beverage industry, on permanent basis. In particular, the 2 experts have worked for some of the major competitors who control more than 40 percent of the non alcoholic beverage market share. This will play a key role in fulfilling the organization’s goals and objectives.

Cost and Time Efficiencies

ABC Company will use mechanization production process to minimize the costs of production. Also, it has 3 vans for faster distribution of company products to the marketplace. The company will produce and appropriate its products to the business sector with no delays, thereby minimizing excessive stockholding and associated costs.

Competitive Advantage

From the competitive advantage perspective, the products will be produced and packaged locally. The company will use sustainable packaging to help in enhancing its environmentally friendly vision. Most importantly, the company will brew premium coffee drink, made from locally produced quality beans as well as other ingredients. The organization will take 24 hours to produce, package and deliver the product in the market, thereby achieving time, form and place utilities. Furthermore, the business boasts of a strategic location with high traffic during the day all 7 days a week. As a startup, the company will lease a facility for 1 year thereby minimizing costs associated with building a new facility. Nonetheless, it will build a new facility in the year 2020. With regards to distribution, the company will acquire 3 vans for faster delivery of raw materials from suppliers and finished goods to the marketplace. Also, the company will enter into partnership with major retailers to help with product distribution. In addition, it will subscribe to monthly magazines from professional organizations to remain relevant about the latest trends in the industry. By doing so, it will take advantage of the local and national events which can in increasing awareness and sales.

Research and Development Activities

Research and development is a key requirement of every organization; businesses need to understand their markets and the current trends to remain updated (Hair et al., 2008). ABC Company plans to check on the Internet on weekly basis for any information-like weather, political and economic trends- affecting the entire state of Massachusetts and the neighboring states from where the company obtains its coffee supplies. Moreover, the organization will send representatives to seminars and workshops to stay abreast of new developments in the industry and the applicable federal, state as well as local governments’ regulations. Finally, ABC Company does not intend on introducing additional products as it intends to stick to coffee for a start. By doing so, the company will focus on narrow stream and niche market. Too much flavors will erode the simplicity of the organization’s brand.

Technology Plan

Software Needs

Every organization should invest in high quality software product to help in streamlining their day to day business operations. Some of the common software include Microsoft Office Suite, customer relations management systems, supply chain management system and enterprise resource planning system (Mariott & Glackin, 2007). ABC is an innovative startup organization that focuses on cost minimization. To do so, it will use a standard Microsoft Office Suite for preparation of memorandums, reports and other important documents. In addition to the Microsoft Office Suite, the company will use cloud based technologies like Google Docs to share as well as centralize its word documents, presentations as well as spreadsheets online for easy accessibility by employees and other users. The company will have a Gmail account for correspondence purposes and a website that will highlight the organization’s important features like products, management, history and corporate social responsibility.

Moreover, the organization will use the Bitrix 24, a free customer relations management system, to: keep track of its customers, produce or generate sales reports, prepare invoices and provide internet marketing service. This is due to the fact that it is mobile friendly. With time, the organization will use the Bitrix24 to add more users as well as delegate tasks plus privileges in the customer relations management system. For the company website, ABC will use Wix.com with a low cost service per month. After expansion, the company’s website will support ecommerce as well as online ordering. Also, the company will have social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Google+ and Twitter for marketing activities.

The company will also invest stock movement software with features like order processing, label printing as well as printing packing slips. Mariott and Glackin (2007) assert that these should ensure quick delivery of products to customers and reduce errors associated with manual data entry. In particular, the organization will use NETSUITE, an inventory and warehouse management system, for quick, accurate as well as cost efficient means of inventory movement. Also, the system will help in preventing stock-outs, shipping and bar coding errors.

Hardware Needs

No matter the type of industry, an organization should invest in high quality equipment as well as hardware products. Some types of hardware can help in streamlining day to day business management as well as administrative tasks. Investing in right quality hardware products is necessary to help a startup business stay organized, minimize costs and boost productivity. Given that each business has unique requires, there is need to consult a computer specialist as well as data security professional for advice on the right type of equipment that will match an organizations business needs (Turban et al., 2008).

With this in mind, ABC Company will invest in five hardware products: 5 computers or workstations, external hard drive, network server solution, a wireless router and a laser jet printer. The external hard drive will help in storing and protecting sensitive data during a disaster like fire and flood. The organization will need a network server solution to support its database, email applications as well as other files. The wireless router will keep the organization connected to the Internet. A strong wireless internet connection is necessary to ensure high speed connectivity to the linked mobile as well as computer devices. Finally, ABC will invest in high quality laser jet printer for faster printing times as well as energy savings. The organization will advocate for a paperless office to minimize printing costs. Also, the organization will need a laser jet printer legal and contract documents as well as other materials. According to Turban et al. (2008) some printers have numerous functions like scanning, faxing as well as photocopying.
