Initially, there always been gender roles in society for sexes, male and female that are considered acceptable, appropriate or desirable. These roles are usually centered on the conceptions of femininity and masculinity. Masculinity is expressed with strength, aggression, and power; while femininity traits include sensitivity, gentleness, and compassion. With transgender, the gender expressions are different or opposite from their birth sex, and it has an impact on the transgender person, their family and the community.
