Reasons why students should be required to take general education courses

Integrating the knowledge, one of the main reasons why university students should be required to take general education courses is to make them have the all-around knowledge, in different related disciplines. Which will have great impact on their lives, and they need that knowledge to help them in handling their future issues in their lives. A basic education courses helps students to have all-round knowledge. For example if one is taking biology courses and chooses  geography related general education course, on ‘Earth Formation and Evolution’, the knowledge will help him broaden his knowledge on other life disciplines . In addition, the main objective of general education courses is to give learners, brain-boosting ability. By improving their lifestyles, morality, and decision-making, therefore students can learn and excel in a number of areas and not just one particular field.

Part of student's motivations, general education courses acts as motivation part in their education courses system, since the general education courses sometimes are not hard to them as their core courses. Example if the person is specializing in pure mathematics courses, sometimes the units may be too hard for students to have time to relax, and if they given an opportunity to choose a general education course  they may opt to take that is simple for them. Hence making him or her to have free time and gets Morales to handle other complex courses which comes from self-selected general education courses, (Lewis, H. R. (2008)).

Building common knowledge goals, general education courses are important since all students will study the same units while undertaking different courses and this helps them to reason together as a group despite their field of specialization courses. Example if the student is specializing in business and economics course and his fellow students are specializing in different courses like philosophy, psychology, or math’s, they will be able to meet in the general education courses. This helps them to build common goals in their life’s through reasoning together, (Reysen, S., & Katzarska-Miller. I., (2013) ).

2. Usefulness of history courses to my life

By learning history courses, I was able to know that people live in the present while they are planning for current situations and they are always worrying about the future and history being the study of man's past events man should always live in present and anticipate on what is yet to come. History course helps one to know the world political, economic, and social developments and changes in your life. It helps me to understand people and their societies despite the continent they are living and their cultures. History has helped me to understand the importance of dramatic and skillful writing and becoming part of entertainment when am learning peoples tales and cultural functions. History courses have also contributed to my moral understanding by studying individuals and the situations in the past; they help me to test my moral senses. For example when learning about certifiable heroes, great men and women in their life dilemmas and how they successfully emerged as winners and also the history of other ordinary peoples hence providing constructive protest to my life too. History courses have also promoted my national identity and essentials of good citizenship.

Usefulness of studying English courses to my life

English courses have helped me to develop excellent writing skills in writing essays and journals and integrating my communication skills with peoples. This promoted my interaction and relationship with many people despite their origins, since we use English language to communicate. English courses have also helped me to apply for many jobs in many online companies since the knowledge of English language is the basic requirements, in writing an application letter and answering their interview questions. It has also helped me to gain much understanding of other courses like philosophy, history, mathematics and many more, since those courses are written and taught in the English language. English courses have enabled me to knock out a lot of life barriers like cultural barriers by knowing customs and habits of other people from different countries because  we are able to understand each other through communication . 

Usefulness of studying Psychology courses to my life

Psychology is a course that involves both academic and applied knowledge that deals with understanding mental processes and human behaviors. Psychology courses haves helped me to give guidance and counseling to other people I relate with in my life. This is because through it I was able to understand, predict, and explain various thoughts and emotions of any person I interact with in my life hence assisting him or her. By learning, psychology am able understand about myself and courses of my own behavior or perspectives changes, in my life and how to handle my emotions despite the situation am undergoing through. Psychology courses have also been a vital course in helping me to improve my relationship with other peoples, who are undergoing different life challenges like, stress, illness, and many more psychological problems, hence I always try to help them because I understand the emotional changes they are undergoing.
