MY FAVORITE PLACE 2

Maasai Mara national reserve is the best place I have ever visited.it is located in the Great Rift Valley, Narok County, in Kenya Africa.it is a place that feels so natural due to its indigenous surroundings.

The masai Mara is named in the honor a tribe known as the maasai since they are the ancestral inhabitants of that area. Mara is a maasai name which means spotted, an apt description for the tree circles, scrubs, savannah and the cloud shadows that mark the area. This is the only place in the world you will freely view all the big five, that is the lion, leopard, African elephants, buffalo and the rhinoceros. There are also the popular species such as the zebra, giraffes, hyenas and the gazelles. Hippos are so abundant in the river Nile that surround the national reserve, they lay around as they wait for the wild beasts to cross the river for their meal.

The wild beast are the most dominant inhabitants of masai Mara they are estimated to be millions in number. Every year in the month of July these animals migrate from north to south in search of greener pasture and return around October. These migration is the most impressive natural event worldwide since it involves about one million wildebeest, half a million gazelles, 300,000 zebras. There are also 470 species of birds that have been identified in the reserve such as the eagles, storks, vulture and the most beautiful birds the peacock and the white doves are all around (Onyeanusi, 2016).

Masai Mara is surrounded by four main topographies, Ngama hills is to the east which have sandy soil and leafy bushes such as black rhino, Oloolo escarpment to the west, Mara triangle and the central plains that form the largest part of the reserve. There are also the most interesting people who are the maasai tribe. They are deeply rooted to their tradition and rituals. They dress in tradition lessos and the unique co-existence of man and wildlife makes the masai area the most unique wilderness regions.
