Brave to Admit Fault and Tolerance
Most people make mistakes, they often do not know about their mistakes, and they calculate how to hide the truth. Making mistakes is also experience, and daring to admit mistakes is one of the methods used to improve ourselves. However, it is not easy for most of us to admit our mistakes. The first lesson I learn from Hoa, my elder sister, that is about brave to admit fault.
Cold winds blew into my face. I pulled back the turtleneck and trembled. Entering the house, a sudden "rumbling" sound came from next door. The crashing sound made me feel scared. It reminded me of a memory in the past when I was 12 years old.
It was a Sunday on the coldest day of the year. That morning, my parents went to work, Hoa, I and the Puppy, Liz, were at home. My mother told my sister, 16 years old, to wash the dishes and clean the house. My sister and I shivered and trembled because of the cold. Liz jumped to my sister’s lap. He was a very lovely dog. Every summer, when we came home from school late, we saw him standing at the gate looking very "impatient". We would always stay at home with Liz. He often frolics with us, and he is a smart dog. He walked around my sister’s legs and followed her to the door. He waited for her to brush her teeth and wash her face, he followed her back to her room. He stayed with us all day long. That day, when Hoa pulled out the sewing supplies again, Liz obediently lay down beside her. She started pulling out a cloth to sew it into a bow. She had been struggling all morning with it, and she carefully tied it to his neck, he looked so funny happy.
My sister played with Liz until she was tired. Glancing at her watch, she was startled: it was already 6:00 PM. My mom will back home soon. She hastily cleaned the house. At that time, the dog lay obediently and watched her clean. Then Hoa suddenly remembered that she had to wash the dishes. While she rushed to the dishwasher, Liz thought she was playing, and he ran to follow her. She was annoyed and tried to chase him out, but he thought she was playing and he continued to jump. While she was washing, she turned to attempt to flop Liz but her hand-pulled tablecloth then "choang" - a falling plate. She was so scared and looked down. This is precious crystal plate was left by my grandfather. I was reading a book next to a wooden chair and when I heard the crack of a crystal plate. I looked at my sister and we were cried because we were scared. The puppy looked so sad, and he put his ears down and lay still.
“Hoa! Open the door for mom!”. My mom said.
We were worried, my sister froze for a few seconds, and her head was in a mess. I slowly opened the door for Mom. Seeing me shed tears, my mother asked:
“What's wrong with you?”
“Yes ... yes ... the crystal plate is ... v ... yeah.”
“What? Who broke it?”. My mother's voice was serious.
Without thinking, my sister answered: “It was ... Liz”
My mom closed the door, and she beat the dog with a broom handle. We felt so bad for him and could not do anything. Because of me? His eyes were bewildered as if to ask us: “Why did my mother hit me? ”. My mom locked him in the yard. We tried to stop my mom but we could not.
We know my mom was angry because the entire set had five. Before my grandfather died, he gave each family one of the crystal plate and told my father to try to keep it.
Yet my sister broke crystal plate. That night, she kept feeling restless. Liz was no longer playing around like usual, he lied dormant, his eyes sad. It looked at us with strange eyes. That night, it was as cold as cutting skin and flesh. The battle wind rushing into the banana leaves. My sister asked my mom to let him into the home but my mother said: “You do not know how upset I am?”
We quietly went to bed. My sister could not close her eyes. The sound of the dog barking loudly, and it scratched on the door . It must be very cold! Remembering the look in his eyes, she found herself at fault. She hugged my mother and cried:
“Mommy! Please forgive me!”
“What's up?”.Mother asked respectfully.
“Mom, if I am at fault do you forgive me?”
“Why not?”
Mom's voice is still gentle and makes her confused. Hoa told my mom what happened today.
“Mom, you can hit me, but you don't leave Puppy outside.”
“Whatever happened, let it pass. I'm not angry with you, I know it's so good, my dear!”. My mom said.
Mom stood up and opened the door, and my sister felt her heart was relieved. Turning on the light, she got down from the bed. The Dog came in, his body shaking, freezing, and my sister hugged him warmly.
“Sorry Liz, please forgive me!”. My sister said.
Then she hugged him with my mother. She saw his tail wobbled, his head rubbed into her lap, and her hand stroked his silky fur. His eyes were dim sleepy.
Importantly, Hoa had admitted her mistake and fix her mistake. She also was brave because she told my mom the truth. My sister told me that it takes a strong person to say sorry.
Mistakes mean education, we can learn from our mistakes. Thus, a small mistake can also warn us to avoid major mistakes. Those who refuse to acknowledge their mistakes will not only lose valuable experiences to avoid bigger mistakes, but they will continue to make the same mistake later. Facing the fear of being self-conscious and the fear of our own mistakes is terrifying. But even if we are scared, we will have to face it, because it's impossible to hide it all our life.
Coda: My essay is one event that I focus on admit fault and tolerant lessons. Somehow it makes me so confused so that I had gone to the writing center and asked them for checking. I do not know I explain it clearly or not; however, I try my best much I can.
