MUSIC APPRECIATION FINAL

Write an essay on the following topics. Each essay is to be a minimum of three (3) pages -- Double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 pt font, one (1) inch margins. Make sure to place a proper title at the beginning of each essay. Submit the three essays as one (1) document.

1. What impact does music have in our lives? Discuss music’s role in society. Use examples and terminology learned in this course.

2. We have discussed in depth music from different musical eras – Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and the Twentieth/Twenty-First Century. Which of these periods was most fascinating to you? Why? Give examples of composers and musical works. Use terminology learned in this course.

3. You are a talented composer. You are inspired to write a composition that expresses your love for your culture, community, state, and country. How would you show nationalism in your work? How would you express your identity in your work? What genre would you use – symphony, opera, piano and voice, string quartet, etc. Describe the tempo, melody, rhythms, harmonies, form, and texture. What instrument(s) would you use? Be specific and creative. Use terminology learned in this course.
