1. Chapter 7 - In today's society, where people of all classes can freely attend any public concert, the symphony nevertheless seems to attract predominantly middle- and upper-class patrons. Why do you think this is so? Is it a matter of money, attention span, or education? Or is there some other reason? Now that you are taking a music appreciation course, are you more likely to go to a concert featuring classical music? Why, or why not? 100+ words

2. Write a review/critique of each concert including the following information:

A. Name of performer and/or performing group including some historical

information.

B. Place, date and time of performance

C. Type of performance

D. Works/pieces performed

E. Your review of the concert. What did you like? Why? What did you not

like? Why? What were some of the things you’ve learned in this class that

you noticed in the concert? What interesting things did you hear?

(Musical Characteristics – Melody, Harmony, Texture, Dynamics, etc.) See?

What was the audience’s response? Was it similar to yours? Would you

recommend this performance to someone else? Why or why not?

Reviews will be graded based on the following general guidelines: proper

format (paragraph form)(APA, MLA), in text citation, grammar, language,

writing style, content, at least 300 words, and clarity of communicating your
