Mud Balance
Definition
A simple scale used to measure the density of mud, brines or cement.
Mud is the terminology used for the fluid used to drill the well and its density is normally measured in lbm/gal (known as ppg).
Working mechanism
It is composed of a mud cup with a lid, graduated beam, counter weight and a sliding weight.
There is a bubble indicator that shows if the beam is leveled.
Density is read when the weight its on the beam at a level.

Types
Most of the mud weights are not pressurized, however, pressurized ones are available in the industry.
