❏ Paper is in Times New Roman font size 12, double-spaced with no highlighting.
❏ The list of works cited entries is the last page of the paper.
❏ The entries of the works cited list are in alphabetical order by author’s last name. If no
author is listed, the entries are listed in alphabetical order by the article title. If the works
cited list includes both works written by an author, and works with only article titles, the
works that have a designated author are listed first in alphabetical order, followed by the
works having only article titles. Here’s an example:
Works Cited
Catherwood, Christopher, and Leslie Alan Horvitz. “Armenian Genocide.” Encyclopedia of War
Crimes and Genocide, Facts on File, 2006. Modern World History,

Horvitz).
❏ In-text citations using the article’s title is in quotation marks, and in parentheses, i.e.,
(“Armenian Genocide”).
❏ The list of works cited accurately matches the student’s in-text citations. If sources are
cited within the text of the paper, but are not listed in the Works Cited, the student’s
paper is deducted twenty points. Or, if sources are included on the Works Cited
page, but are not included as an in-text citation, then the student’s paper is
deducted twenty points. The purpose of this paper was to learn how to correctly cite
research; I cannot award a paper with incorrect research a high score.
