Self-Evaluation: A Key to Reflective Practice This week, we want to step back and take stock in a bigger way. We want to understand

our overall patterns of social work practice and how they can improve. You've been working on this all along, using the Field Journal and our class discussions. At this point, you are encouraged to ask broader questions about your own knowledge, skills,

values, and cognitive-affective reactions. When you work for an agency, you will undergo regular performance appraisals. This process can cause us to neglect our own

self-appraisal. Doing so honestly requires us to be uncomfortable, to know that we often could have done better in matters of human suffering. By recognizing that we are never done with our professional development, we can be more accepting of our areas for

improvement. Please think about the following questions and be prepared to discuss them in the Graded Discussion for this week.
